What is the condition of the members of the family in the poem?In this poem, the members of the family all have some weird behaviors that cause a general strain in their relationship with one another. For instance, the mother is absorbed in her sewing while the daughter is trying to be the perfect daughter, cooking away her life and having no dreams or aspirations. The brother who is meant to be the heir of the family has some very bad behaviors that include stealing. The poet herself is absorbed in her books and her mother does not find this appealing.
There seems to be no unity in this family as they are all fighting some internal emotions that do not make for peaceful relations.
