What is an equation of the line that passes through the points (2, -7) and (8, -4)?

Answers

Answer:

The answer is

\(y = \frac{1}{2} x - 8\)

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the equation of the line that passes through two points , first find the slope and then use the formula

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

where m is the slope

(x1 , y1) are any of the points

To find the slope of the line using two points we use the formula

\(m = \frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1} \)

Slope of the line using points

(2, -7) and (8, -4) is

\( \frac{ - 4 + 7}{8 - 2} = \frac{3}{6} = \frac{1}{2} \)

Now the equation of the line using point (2 , - 7) and slope 1/2 is

\( y + 7 = \frac{1}{2} (x - 2)\)\(y + 7 = \frac{1}{2} x - 1\)\(y = \frac{1}{2} x - 1 - 7\)

We have the final answer as

\(y = \frac{1}{2} x - 8\)

Answers

To find the area of the arena, you will need to find the areas of the rectangular spaces and the 2 semicircles. Because the formulas are given, I will just substitute in the values and show the work for finding the areas.

To find the perimeter, you will look at the distances of lines that take you around the space. Because two of these spaces are half circles, you will need to find the circumference of the full circle.

Also, the answers need to be given in meters, so all units given in centimeters will be divided by 100 to convert them to meters.

Perimeter:

C= 3.14 x 20 m

C = 62.8 meters

62.8 + 8 + 25 + 8 + 5 + 8 + 10 + 8 + 40= 174.8 meters for the Perimeter

Area:

A = 25 x 8

A = 200 square meters

A = 10 x 8

A = 80 square meters

A = 20 x 40

A = 800 square meters

A = 3.14 x 10^2

A = 314 square meters

Total Area: 314 + 800 + 80 + 200= 1394 square meters

What is a solution to the equation x^3 - 7x2 + 12x = 0?

Answers

To solve for the roots of this equation, we can proceed as follows:

\(x^3-7x^2+12x=0\Rightarrow x\cdot(x^2-7x+12)=0\)

Then, we have two equations to solve for the roots:

1. x = 0.

2. x^2 -7x + 12 = 0

We already have one of the roots of the equation, x = 0.

For the other equation, we know that we can try to find two numbers that if we multiply them, the result must be 12, and if we sum them the result must be -7. Then:

If we have that these numbers are x = -3, and x = -4, we have:

-3 - 4 = -7

-3 * -4 = 12

Then, the roots are the inverse of these two numbers: x = 3, and x = 4.

Therefore, the solutions for the equation: x^3 - 7x^2 + 12 = 0 are:

x = 0

x = 3

x = 4

We can also use the quadratic formula to obtain the roots of the second equation.

The area of a circle is given by the following formula:

\(A=\pi r^2\)

Where r is the radius.

We know the area of the circle, then we can replace it in the formula and find r:

\(\begin{gathered} 136.46=\pi\cdot r^2 \\ r^2=\frac{136.46}{\pi} \\ r^2=43.44 \\ r=\sqrt[]{43.44} \\ r=6.59 \end{gathered}\)

The circumference of a circle is given by the formula:

\(C=2\pi r\)

By replacing the r-value that we found, we can solve for C:

\(\begin{gathered} C=2\cdot\pi\cdot6.59 \\ C=41.41 \end{gathered}\)

Answers

The smallest angle of the equilateral triangle is 60 degrees

If the sides of a triangle are in the ratio 4:4:3, it implies that the lengths of the sides are proportional.

To determine the type of triangle, we examine the side lengths. Since all three sides are equal in length, we have an equilateral triangle.

For an equilateral triangle, all angles are equal. To calculate the smallest angle, we divide the total sum of angles in a triangle (180 degrees) by the number of angles, which is 3:

Smallest angle \(= \frac{180}{3} = 60\)\) degrees.

Therefore, the smallest angle of the equilateral triangle is 60 degrees (to the nearest degree).

10. The stamp duty payable on a property with a purchase price of K150,000 is K7,500.

To calculate the stamp duty payable on properties with a purchase price of K45,000 and K150,000, we need to apply the corresponding rates of stamp duty based on the given information.

Given:

Value of Property:

Up to K35,000: Stamp Duty Rate - 2%

K35,000 to K70,000: Stamp Duty Rate - 3%

K70,000 to K140,000: Stamp Duty Rate - 4%

g(x) = -4x2 + 4x – 2
What is the maximum or minimum step by step

Answers

Ok for this answer you use a calculator for the times part and for g x you get the times you count too

We want the maximun or minimum of \(g(x)=-4x^2+4x-2\)

Firstly, notice that we have a leading coefficient of -4, wich means our parabola is concave down. Thus, our function will have a maximum.

To find what is the maximum, let's firstly find on wich value of x it happens. We'll start by taking the first derivative of the function:

\(g'(x)=-8x+4\)

To find the extremes of the function, we just need to find where the derivative equals zero. Setting g'(x)=0 we have

\(0 = -8x+4\\8x=4\\x=\frac{1}{2}\)

So we found that the x coordinate of the maximum is x=1/2. To find the y coordinate we just need to substitute the value of x into the original function.

\(g(1/2)=-4(1/2)^2+4(1/2)-2\\g(1/2)=-1+2-2\\g(1/2) = -1\)

Therefore, the maximum point \(M\) of the function is

\(\boxed{M=(0.5,-1)}\)

On their journey, Lewis and Clark have many interesting experiences with both people and animals.It was the largest bear they'd ever seen, a great grizzly bear that weighed an estimated 600 pounds. A "most tremendous looking animal, and extremely hard to kill," wrote Lewis in his journal on May 5, 1805. Clark described the grizzly as "very large and a terrible looking animal." Clark and another member of the expedition fired 10 shots at it before it died.Several tribes of Native Americans had told Lewis and Clark about grizzly bears. The tribes would only attack these great bears if there were 6-10 people in their hunting party, and even then the bears would sometimes kill one of them. The first grizzlies Lewis saw during the expedition were two somewhat smaller bears. He and another hunter had easily killed one of them. That day Lewis wrote in his journal that although the Native Americans with their bows and arrows might be vulnerable to bears, the grizzlies were no match for highly skilled riflemen. He soon changed his mind when he found himself alone and easy prey.Lewis was out scouting on June 15, 1805. He decided to make camp and shot a buffalo. As he was watching the buffalo fall, a grizzly bear came rushing toward him. Lewis raised his gun to shoot and then realized he had not reloaded his rifle and there was no one there to help him. The bear was getting closer. There were no trees or bushes nearby, but there was a river. Lewis quickly ran into the water. The bear followed. When the bear saw Lewis in the water, for no apparent reason he stopped and ran in the other direction. Lewis was unclear about why the bear left, but he knew he was lucky! After that he thought that the Corps (Lewis and Clark's expedition party) should not go out alone. Even at camp, he insisted they should sleep with their guns beside them in case of sudden bear attacks.Bears seemed to be everywhere! Bears chased members of the Corps through the woods, into bushes, and into the water on several occasions. On July 15, 1806, Hugh McNeal was out alone on horseback. All of a sudden he saw a grizzly bear in the bushes. His horse bucked and threw McNeal in proximity to the bear. The bear raised itself up to attack. What could McNeal do at such close range? He hit the bear with his gun. The bear was temporarily stunned and fell down. McNeal quickly climbed out of reach in the branches of a nearby tree. Because of their large size and straight claws, grizzly bears aren't good tree climbers, so the bear waited at the base of the tree. And waited. And waited. Finally just before dark, the bear gave up and left. McNeal climbed down and made it back to camp safely.By the end of the expedition Lewis believed that the Corps had been very lucky to not lose anyone to a grizzly bear. He wrote that "the hand of providence has been most wonderfully in our favor."QuestionWhich statement is a main idea of Bears on the Lewis and Clark Expedition?ResponsesNative Americans preferred using bows and arrows over rifles when hunting for grizzly bears.Native Americans preferred using bows and arrows over rifles when hunting for grizzly bears.Members of the Corp learned the importance of being prepared for bear attacks.
