Answers

Explanation:

Work is mathematically expressed as force×distance(ie:the force applied to an item to move it × the distance both the force & the item moved through)

This means an increase in force or distance while doing work will increase the intensity of the work being done,which implies that the work will be done easier & faster.

Therefore,he felt it was easier while pulling the crate with the longer rope due to its increased length or distance.

A balky cow is leaving the barn as you try harder and harder to push her back in. In coordinates with the origin at the barn door, the cow walks from x = 0 to x = 6.9 m
as you apply a force with x-component Fx
= -[20.0 N
+ (3.0 N/m
) x
].

Answers

The force that pushed the cow back into the barn produced work using the formula W = -831.45 J.

What constitutes net force's components?

The total vector of all applied forces to an object is known as the net force. The result of the fact that a force is a vector and that two forces of equal magnitude and opposite direction cancel each other out is the net force.

W = ∫ F(x) dx

In this instance,

Fx = -[20.0 N + 3.0 N/m]x gives the force.

The displacement of the cow is:

Δx = 6.9 m

Integrating this expression gives:

W = ∫ F(x) dx

= -∫ (3.0 N/m) x dx - ∫ 20.0 N dx

= -1.5 N/m * x² - 20.0 N * x + C

where C is the constant of integration.

W(x=0) = -1.5 N/m * 0² - 20.0 N * 0 + C = 0

Therefore, C = 0, and the work done by the force is:

W = -1.5 N/m * x² - 20.0 N * x

W = -1.5 N/m * (6.9 m)² - 20.0 N * 6.9 m

W = -831.45 J

A go kart is traveling at a constant 13.8 meters per second around a horizontal circular track with a radius of 42.0 meters. The Combined mass of a go kart and the driver is 143 kg. What is the magnitude of the centripetal force acting on the combined mass

Answers

Answer:

648.40N

Explanation:

Centripetal acceleration is the acceleration of an object around a circular path. Centripetal for e acting on the combined mass is expressed as:

F = ma

F = mv²/r

m is the mass of the object = 143kg

v is the linear velocity = 13.8m/s

r is the radius = 42.0m

Substitute the given parameters into the formula;

F = 143*13.8²/42

F = 27,232.92/42

F = 648.40N

Hence the magnitude of the centripetal force acting on the combined mass is 648.40N

a force of 5N and 3N are simultaneously exerted on an object .The direction of the forces can be altered at will.When will these forces have their greatest resultant?

Answers

Answer:

When the both the forces are acting in the same direction

Explanation:

Answer:

The resultant of these two forces will be the greatest when the two forces are in the same direction.

Explanation:

Let \(F_1\) and \(F_2\) denote these two forces. The resultant of these two force would be the vector sum \((F_1 + F_2)\).

Refer to the diagram attached. Join the head of \(F_1\) to the tail of \(F_2\). Under this construction, the vector connecting the tail of \(F_1\!\) to the head of \(F_2\!\) (the vector shown with a lighter color) would represent the resultant vector \((F_1 + F_2)\).

Consider the triangle inequality: as long as \(F_1\) and \(F_2\) (the first two sides of the triangle in the diagram) are not parallel to one another, the magnitude of the resultant vector would always be smaller than the sum of the magnitude of \(F_1\!\) and that of \(F_2\!\).

In other words: \(\| F_1 + F_2 \| < \| F_1 \| + \| F_2 \|\).

However, notice that when \(F_1\) and \(F_2\) are in the same direction, the three sides \(F_1\!\), \(F_2\!\), and \((F_1 + F_2)\) are in the same line and no longer form a triangle.

On the other hand, if \(F_1\) and \(F_2\) are opposite to one another, \(\| F_1 + F_2 \| = \| F_1 \| - \| F_2 \|\).

The magnitudes of the two forces, \(\| F_1 \| = 5\; \rm N\) and \(\| F_2 \|= 3\; \rm N\), are fixed. Hence, when the two forces are in the same direction, \(\| F_1 + F_2 \| = \| F_1 \| + \| F_2 \| =8\; \rm N\).

As long as \(F_1\) and \(F_2\) are not in the same line, the triangle inequality ensures that \(\| F_1 + F_2 \| < \| F_1 \| + \| F_2 \| =8\; \rm N\).

Hence, \(8 \rm \; N\) would be the greatest magnitude that the resultant force could achieve. That value is reached when the two forces are in the same direction.

The Jovian planets are formed from materials different from the terrestrial planets for the reason that gaseous Jovian planets, formed farther away from the heat of the Sun, are formed from light weight nebulae "dust."

A Jovian planet, also known as a gas giant, is a huge planet that has a primarily gaseous composition. The Jovian planets include Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. They are primarily made up of hydrogen and helium, and they have enormous atmospheres.Jovian planets are formed farther away from the heat of the Sun, so they are formed from lighter-weight nebulae "dust." Terrestrial planets, on the other hand, are formed nearer to the Sun, so they are formed from heavier-weight nebulae "dust." The density of the materials that make up the Jovian planets is lower than that of the terrestrial planets due to this. This means that the Jovian planets have lower densities and a greater volume than the terrestrial planets.

if properties are allowed to change within the control volume, the processes are called flow. (textbook chapter 5)

Answers

Transient-flow are processes that involve changes within a control volume with time.

Explain  transient flow and its effects?

Unsteady flow is a flow in which velocity and pressure vary with time. A transient flow condition is when a change occurs in the fluid system, such as starting or stopping a pump, opening or closing a valve, or changing the tank level. Otherwise, the system is in steady state. In many cases, transient flow conditions exist as oscillating pressure and velocity waves for some time after the original event that caused them.

Transient flow is commonly referred to as surge or water hammer, and the terms are often interchanged. Strictly speaking, however, surge is when the fluid's mass vibration is the dominant force and the fluid's compressibility is not important. For example, two connected reservoirs vibrate up and down. Water hammer on the other hand is where the compressibility of the fluid has the dominant effect such as the sudden closure of a valve. Transient flow can result in significant transient pressures that may exceed the design limit of the pipes and fittings. Or it may be important to maintain a steady flow for example in the process industry. Therefore a detailed understanding of transient flow can be very important.

Thus, Transient-flow are processes that involve changes within a control volume with time.

. A car starts to move from rest has an acceleration of 3m/s².what will be the velocity and distance travelled by the car after 50sec.

Answers

Sure! Here are the steps for calculating the velocity and distance traveled by the car after 50 seconds :

Step 1: Calculate the velocity using the equation:

\(v = u + at\)

where:

- \(v\) is the final velocity

- \(u\) is the initial velocity (0 m/s, as the car starts from rest)

- \(a\) is the acceleration (3 m/s²)

- \(t\) is the time (50 seconds)

Substituting the values into the equation:

\(v = 0 + (3 \, \text{m/s²}) \times (50 \, \text{s})\)

Step 2: Calculate the distance traveled using the equation:

\(s = ut + \frac{1}{2}at^2\)

where:

- \(s\) is the distance traveled

- \(u\) is the initial velocity (0 m/s)

- \(a\) is the acceleration (3 m/s²)

- \(t\) is the time (50 seconds)

Substituting the values into the equation:

\(s = 0 \times (50 \, \text{s}) + \frac{1}{2} \times (3 \, \text{m/s²}) \times (50 \, \text{s})^2\)

Now, let's simplify these equations:

\(v = 3 \times 50\)

\(s = \frac{1}{2} \times 3 \times 50^2\)

Calculating the results:

\(v = 150\) m/s

\(s = 3750\) meters

Therefore, after 50 seconds, the car will have a velocity of 150 m/s and would have traveled a distance of 3750 meters.

The moon formation causes the seas currents

with the current, you can canoe 24 miles in 4 hours. against the same current, you can canoe only 34 of this distance in 6 hours. find your average velocity in still water and the average velocity of the current.

Answers

Let's assume the speed of the canoe in still water as x and the speed of the current as y.

When canoeing downstream (with the current), the effective speed of the canoe would be (x+y). Similarly, when canoeing upstream (against the current), the effective speed would be (x-y).

From the given information, we know that:

Downstream speed: 24 miles in 4 hours, or (x+y) = 24/4 = 6 mph

Upstream speed: 34 miles in 6 hours, or (x-y) = 34/6 = 5.67 mph

Now, we can solve for x and y using a system of equations:

x + y = 6

x - y = 5.67

Adding the two equations, we get:

2x = 11.67

x = 5.835 mph

Substituting x into either equation, we can solve for y:

5.835 + y = 6

y = 0.165 mph

Therefore, the average velocity in still water is 5.835 mph and the average velocity of the current is 0.165 mph

Answers

FETs are more temperature-sensitive, JFETs are voltage-controlled while BJT is a current-controlled device, the input impedance of a FET is higher than that of a BJT, and FETs take less area than BJT in fabrication.

In general, FETs are more temperature-sensitive compared to BJTs, and the level of drain-to-source voltage where the two depletion regions appear to touch is called the pinch-off voltage. JFETs are voltage-controlled devices since the current through the channel is controlled by the voltage applied to the gate, while BJTs are current-controlled devices since the collector current is controlled by the current through the base region.

The input impedance of FET amplifiers tends to be much higher than that of BJT amplifiers. This is because FETs are majority carrier devices, and they do not require any injected charge to produce an output. This makes them ideal for use in high-impedance applications. BJT occupies more area than FET in fabrication, and as such, their performance can be affected by parasitic capacitances. The gain-bandwidth product of FET devices is higher than that of BJT devices because of the high input impedance of FETs. Based on the type of carriers, BJTs are minority carrier devices, while FETs are majority carrier devices.

What is initial velocity of a ball (m/s) which is thrown upwards and takes 15.0s to return to its starting position?

A. 73.6 m/s
B. 73.6 m/s^2
C. 25 m/s^2
D. 25 m/s

Show the work for determining the velocity of the ball...show symbolic solution then numerical solution.

Answers

Answer:

Approximately \(73.6\; {\rm m\cdot s^{-1}}\).

(\(v = (1/2)\, g\, t\), assuming that \(g = 9.81\; {\rm m\cdot s^{-2}}\).)

Explanation:

Assume that the air resistance on the ball is negligible. Let \(v\) denote the initial velocity of the ball.

The kinetic energy of the ball will be conserved. Hence, when the ball returns to the starting position, the ball will be travelling at the same speed but in the opposite direction (downwards.) The velocity will become \((-v)\).

The change in the velocity of the ball would be \(\Delta v = ((-v) - v) = (-2\, v)\).

Change in velocity is also equal to \(a\, t\), where \(a\) is acceleration and \(t\) is the time required to achieve such change. Under the assumptions, acceleration of the ball will be constantly \(a = (-g)\). Hence:

\(\Delta v = a\, t = (-g)\, t\).

Since \(\Delta v = ((-v) - v) = (-2\, v)\):

\((-2\, v) = \Delta v = (-g)\, t\).

\(\begin{aligned}v &= \frac{(-g)\, t}{(-2)} = \frac{g\, t}{2}\end{aligned}\).

Substitute in \(g = 9.81\; {\rm m\cdot s^{-2}}\) and \(t = 15.0\; {\rm s}\) to obtain:

\(\begin{aligned}v &= \frac{g\, t}{2} \\ &= \frac{(9.81)\, (15.0)}{2}\; {\rm m\cdot s^{-1}} \\ &\approx 73.6\; {\rm m\cdot s^{-1}}\end{aligned}\).

When you put a 9. 0 V battery across a bulb, 0. 1 A of current

flows through the bulb. Calculate the resistance of the bulb

Answers

When a 9.0 V battery is connected to a bulb and 0.1 A of current flows through it, the resistance of the bulb is 90 ohms.

When a 9.0 V battery is connected to a bulb and 0.1 A of current flows through the bulb, we can calculate the resistance of the bulb using Ohm's Law. Ohm's Law states that the current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the voltage applied across it and inversely proportional to its resistance.

To find the resistance, we can rearrange Ohm's Law equation (V = IR) to solve for R, where V is the voltage, I is the current, and R is the resistance.

First, let's plug in the given values:

V = 9.0 V (voltage)
I = 0.1 A (current)

Now, we can rearrange the equation to solve for R:

R = V / I

Substituting the given values:

R = 9.0 V / 0.1 A

Dividing 9.0 V by 0.1 A, we get:

R = 90 ohms

Therefore, the resistance of the bulb is 90 ohms.

In summary, when a 9.0 V battery is connected to a bulb and 0.1 A of current flows through it, the resistance of the bulb is 90 ohms.

The answer is

Pitch of the buzzer increased (higher tone) as it moves towards the observer

The correct option that explains the change in the observed pitch of the buzzer as it moves  towards the observer is;

A; pitch of the buzzer increased (higher tone) as it moves towards the observer

This is based on the concept of doppler effect which is defined as the change in frequency/pitch of a sound that is heard by an observer due to the fact that the sound source and the observer have different velocities with respect to the medium  through the sound travels.

Now, according to doppler effect, when the source of the sound moves towards the observer, the frequency will increase due to the fact that the time between successive sound waves is shortened. Thus, this means that the pitch will be higher.

However, when the sound source moves away from the observer, the frequency would decrease due to the fact that the time between successive sound waves or the crest is now longer. Thus, the pitch will decrease.

In conclusion, the pitch of the buzzer will increase as it moves towards the observer.

Do you believe that global warming is happening? Tell why or why not. If you believe global warming is happening, what can we do to slow it down?

Answers

Answer:

Yes I do believe global warming is happening, mainly because there is a plethora of data and research from scientists to support the claim. The effects of global warming around us are clearly observed as well, such as the rise in acidity in the oceans. Another example is in the Artic, where a natural occurence takes place. Ice freezes and cold salty water takes its place, and because of it's high density it sinks and sweeps across the ocean floor. That cold water is then replaced by warmer water, and this is called the global ocean conveyor belt. As seen through the example with the Artic, ocean temperature plays a key role in the conveyor belt. Climate change is fueled through human activities, which could harm the system. If one part of the conveyor belt were to break down, such as the one in the Artic,  nutrients will not be distributed to start the food chain. Organisms such as phytoplankton need those nutrients to thrive. If phytoplankton are endangered, all life in the oceans is endangered. So as we can see, global warming is extremely harmful to the environment and it's effects are observed around us.

To slow global warming down we should consume less meat, and go to vegan or vegetarian diets. Your carbon footprint is halved by consuming less meat and eating a more vegan or vegetarian diet. Another thing is that we as a society should stop using so much plastic. It takes more than a century to degrade, most landfills are composed of it. Microplastics also get into our oceans, and our fish end up consuming them.

Framing is defined as the way an issue is presented in a particular context. The media uses frames to present stories and shape people's opinions and beliefs. These frames can either reinforce or challenge people's existing beliefs, leading to different perceptions of a particular issue. The media has the power to influence how people think and act by framing issues in a particular way.
