roman architecture differed from earlier egyptian and greek architecture because of three building techniques. what were they?

Roman architecture differed from earlier Egyptian and Greek architecture because of three building techniques, concrete, arches, and vaulting.

Greeks tended to construct compact, straightforward buildings, whereas Romans preferred tall, elaborate structures. While the Romans used arches, the Greeks supported their roofs with columns. Roman architecture is more imposing and magnificent, but Greek architecture is more supple and fluid.

The Romans invented concrete and used it as a crucial building material in most of their architecture, whereas the Greeks preferred marble. In contrast to the post-and-lintel architecture of Greek buildings, the Romans also placed an emphasis on circular forms and made great use of the arch, vault, and dome in their construction endeavors.

Two goals of the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in 1935 were to expand the territory of the Italian Empire and to avenge Italy's previous military defeat.

Italy's fascist leader, Benito Mussolini, wanted to expand Italy's colonial empire and establish Italy as a major colonial power. The conquest of Ethiopia was seen as a way to achieve these goals, by expanding the territory of the Italian Empire and gaining control of Ethiopia's resources.

Additionally, Italy's defeat by Ethiopia in the Battle of Adwa in 1896 was a source of humiliation for Italy, and Mussolini sought revenge by conquering Ethiopia. Protecting Italian business interests in the country or regaining territory lost under the Treaty of Versailles were not primary goals of the invasion.

How do you believe Achebe wants the reader to see Africa? (Things Fall Apart)

Answers

Achebe represents Africa with a genuine desire to represent the continent without a filter or distorted lens. He shows the horror and trauma of colonialization and the psychological toll that takes on a culture as its members watch their history and heritage being decimated and trampled over without a flicker of scruples from missionaries with a raging white saviour complex. Enoch eats the sacred snake in blatant rejection of his own culture - a physical representation of a community being ripped apart from the inside at the arrival of a tyrannical, brainwashing, and indoctrinating force who already decided it owned black people before they even stepped off their boats. I believe Achebe wants the reader to see the beauty of a continent so vibrant, so unthinkably immense but so often discounted. He wants us to recognize the life and culture that thrived and buzzed before, during, and after the violent and violating attacks and infringements it suffered at the hands of greed, xenophobia, and unrestrained eurocentrism. There is a sense of contemptuous self-entitlement and malevolence that is prevalent throughout the second part of the novel once the colonizers arrive and begin something of a crusade within the African villages under the flimsy guise of “saving” the African tribes that they so carelessly destroy. However, Achebe does not allow any bias - no matter how justified it may be in the face of the meddling and often malicious colonizer - to pervade his novel when representing Africa and its culture. Achebe does not hide the flaws or questionable practices of the Igbo tribe. The protagonist Okonkwo is arguably one of the most unlikeable characters in the whole story, and yet he is a man most respected among his village. He beats his wives - and even tries to kill one of them when she makes an offhand remark about his poor shooting skills;  he kills the boy, Ikemefuna, whom he raised as a son for the sole reason to save face and keep up the facade of a strong, unflinching and emotionless male. Toxic masculinity and lack of equality for women is a clear and prevalent issue Achebe makes an active effort to point out. Moreover, Achebe does not feign the Igbo society as perfectly fully functioning, effective and smooth running before the missionaries arrive. He does not pretend it was their arrival and their arrival only that brought negative energy, tension and division to the tribe. The Igbo tribe severely punishes people for things that are out of their control,  for example when Okonkwo accidentally killed Ezeudu’s son and then he was exiled for mutiple years and his entire family has to start a whole new life somewhere else despite being entirely innocent. Another example of this is when ikemefuna was sent to be killed because it was the “word of god”. It seems here a fear of the wrath of god is greater than the compassion for the real life human that lives among them - not to mention the immorality of Ikemefuna even living in their village to begin with, since he had been  previously ripped away from his own family as a young boy as a sacrifice and payment from another village, as if this young boy is merely a commodity or bargaining tool rather than a human being. It can thus be argued that Achebe wants the reader to see Africa in a genuine light, for he is not afraid to show the reader some of the uglier truths and the internal strife and turmoil the continent and its plethora of tribes went through - developing centuries worth of cultural practices, norms, heritage, wars, celebrations, art and dispositions - before the European colonizers even arrived and stopped Africa in its tracks from a free and independent development of its own heritage and mindset  .

Suppose a certain star has a temperature of \( 10,000 \mathrm{Kelvins}(\mathrm{K}) \). It will emit light of many different wavelengths. But which wavelength of light will it emit the most of? Also: I

Answers

A star with a temperature of 10,000 Kelvins will emit the most light at a wavelength corresponding to the peak of its blackbody radiation curve.

When a star is at a certain temperature, it emits electromagnetic radiation across a range of wavelengths. This radiation is known as blackbody radiation, and its intensity at different wavelengths is governed by Planck's law. According to Planck's law, the intensity of radiation emitted by a blackbody is proportional to the temperature and follows a specific distribution.

The peak wavelength of the emitted light, known as the peak of the blackbody radiation curve, is determined by the star's temperature. In the case of a star with a temperature of 10,000 Kelvins, the peak wavelength will be in the visible range of the electromagnetic spectrum. This means that the star will emit the most light at a wavelength corresponding to a color in the visible spectrum.

Since the peak wavelength shifts towards shorter wavelengths as the temperature increases, a star with a higher temperature would emit light at shorter wavelengths, such as blue or ultraviolet. Conversely, a star with a lower temperature would emit light at longer wavelengths, such as red or infrared.

Understanding the relationship between a star's temperature and the peak wavelength of its emitted light provides insights into its spectral characteristics and allows astronomers to analyze and classify stars based on their temperature and spectral signatures.

What is president Roosevelt trying to convey about the country’s economy in this radio address

Answer:

Roosevelt's policies had a significant impact on the country's economy in the long term. Here are some of the ways in which his policies influenced the economy:

1. Expansion of the federal government: Roosevelt's policies greatly expanded the role of the federal government in the economy. The New Deal created a range of federal agencies and programs aimed at providing relief, stimulating economic growth, and regulating business. Many of these agencies and programs still exist today, and they continue to play a significant role in the economy.

2. Increased government spending: In order to stimulate economic growth and provide relief to those affected by the Great Depression, Roosevelt implemented a range of programs that required significant government spending. This spending helped to create jobs and boost economic activity, and it also helped to establish the idea that the government could play a positive role in the economy.

In your own words, tell me what you think a revolution is and do
you think revolutions are still necessary in the 21st century?

Answers

A revolution, in broad terms, refers to a radical and transformative change in society, often accompanied by significant shifts in political, social, economic, or cultural structures.

It typically involves widespread and collective actions taken by individuals or groups to challenge and overthrow existing power structures in pursuit of a new vision or ideology.Revolutions historically have been driven by various factors, such as oppressive regimes, inequality, social injustice, political repression, or economic hardships. They can emerge as a response to the grievances of marginalized groups, seeking to challenge and reshape the status quo.

As for the necessity of revolutions in the 21st century, it is a complex and subjective question. While many societies have made substantial progress in terms of democracy, human rights, and social justice, significant challenges and inequalities persist. Issues like wealth disparity, systemic discrimination, political corruption, environmental degradation, and the limitations of existing systems can still generate discontent and demands for change.

However, the nature of social and political activism has evolved in the 21st century. Movements and protests have increasingly embraced nonviolent means, advocating for reform, social movements, and incremental change rather than seeking to completely overthrow existing systems through violent revolutions.

Whether a revolution is deemed necessary or not depends on the specific context and the goals being pursued. Some argue that incremental reforms and peaceful means of change can address societal issues effectively, while others believe that fundamental structural changes may require more disruptive and transformative approaches.

Ultimately, the question of whether revolutions are still necessary in the 21st century is a matter of ongoing debate and depends on one's perspective on the existing systems, the specific issues at hand, and the effectiveness of various means of social and political change.

A revolution can be described as a profound and often violent change in the social, political, or economic structures of a society. It typically involves a collective uprising by a significant portion of the population against an existing system or regime, driven by a shared desire for fundamental transformation. Revolutions aim to challenge and overthrow oppressive or unjust power structures and establish new ones that reflect the aspirations and needs of the people.

In the 21st century, while many societies have made significant progress in terms of social and political advancements, there are still instances where revolutions can be seen as necessary. Factors that might contribute to the need for revolutions include systemic inequality, political corruption, authoritarianism, lack of basic human rights, and social injustices. In such cases, revolutions can serve as a catalyst for change, giving a voice to marginalized groups and creating opportunities for building more inclusive, equitable, and democratic societies.

It's important to note that not all revolutions are violent or result in widespread destruction. Peaceful revolutions, driven by mass protests, civil disobedience, and collective action, can also bring about transformative changes. In the 21st century, advancements in technology and communication have provided new avenues for mobilization and organizing, making peaceful revolutions more viable than ever before.

However, it is crucial to evaluate each situation individually and consider the potential consequences of revolution. While revolutions have the potential to bring about positive change, they can also be accompanied by significant instability, violence, and loss of life. Therefore, it is essential to seek peaceful means of addressing grievances and pursuing social progress whenever possible.
