if enforcement is aimed at buyers of an illegal good, the result will be

Answers

If enforcement is aimed at buyers of an illegal good, the result will be a decrease in demand and consumption of the illegal good, but with little effect on the supply of the illegal good.

When buyers of an illegal good face a higher risk of being caught, the demand perceived cost of purchasing the illegal good increases, and as a result, the quantity demanded of the good will decrease. This, in turn, will lead to a decrease in the price of the illegal good as the demand curve shifts to the left. However, the supply of the illegal good is unlikely to be affected, as demand curve can simply sell the illegal good to buyers in other markets. Additionally, the enforcement effort may drive up the price of the good and thus increase the profit margins for the sellers. Therefore, enforcement targeted at buyers of an illegal good is likely to have limited effectiveness in reducing the overall supply of the illegal good.

removal of the obligation to peg currency values would restore monetary control to central banks.

Explanation:

The Federal Reserve (Fed) and Central banks (lender of last resort) are readily accessible and available to give monetary funds to depository financial institutions when they're running out of money and as well as regulate their activities.

Generally, monetary policy affects the money supply in an economy, which then creates an impact on interest rates and the inflation rate.

Hence, advocates of floating rates pointed out that removal of the obligation to peg currency (setting specific fixed exchange rate) values would restore monetary control to central banks.

The partnership had net income of $165,000. Based on the partnership agreement, Frost's share of net income was $96,500 and Hardie's share was $68,500. Frost and Hardie each withdrew cash of $18,000 for personal use during the year.

Answers

The Frost's share of net income in the partnership was $72,800 and Hardie's share was $48,100.

Calculation of profit sharing ratio: Total investment made by Frost and Hardie:

$57,000 + $24,000 = $81,000

Frost's share of net income = $96,500

Hardie's share of net income = $68,500

Total profit = $96,500 + $68,500 = $165,000

Ratio of profit sharing:

Frost : Hardie = 96,500 : 68,500= 193 : 137= 1.406 : 1

Calculation of Interest on Capital:

Interest on Frost's capital = $57,000 × 10% = $5,700

Interest on Hardie's capital = $24,000 × 10% = $2,400

Calculation of Partners' Drawing:

Frost's drawings = $18,000

Hardie's drawings = $18,000

Calculation of Partners' share in Profit:

Share of Frost in profit = $96,500 – $5,700 – $18,000 = $72,800

Share of Hardie in profit = $68,500 – $2,400 – $18,000 = $48,100.

Segregation of Duties
Arcadia Plastics follows the philosophy of transferring employees from job to job within the company. Management believes that job rotation deters employees from feeling that they are stagnating in their jobs and promotes a better understanding of the company. A computer services employee typically works for six months as a data librarian, one year as a systems developer, six months as a database administrator, and one year in systems maintenance. At that point, he or she is assigned to a permanent position.
Required:
Discuss the importance of separation of duties within the information systems department. How can Arcadia Plastics have both job rotation and well-separated duties?

Answers

Maintain separation of duties while implementing job rotation strategies.

Importance of separation of duties?

The is a separation of duties crucial principle within the information systems department of any organization, including Arcadia Plastics. It is designed to prevent conflicts of interest, fraud, and errors by ensuring that no single individual has complete control or access over a critical process or system. The principle of separation of duties helps to establish checks and balances, increase accountability, and mitigate risks associated with internal control failures.

In the context of Arcadia Plastics' philosophy of job rotation, it is important to find a balance between job rotation and maintaining well-separated duties. While job rotation can be beneficial for employee engagement and skill development, it must be implemented in a way that does not compromise internal control and security measures. Here are some strategies that Arcadia Plastics can adopt to achieve both objectives:

Identify critical duties: Analyze the information systems department and identify key functions or processes that require strict separation of duties. These may include tasks related to data access, system administration, development, maintenance, and security.Design job rotation plans: Develop job rotation plans that consider the identified critical duties. Ensure that employees are rotated across different roles and responsibilities without violating the principle of separation of duties. This can be achieved by assigning individuals to roles that have complementary functions but do not create conflicts of interest or single points of failure.Implement appropriate access controls: Establish access controls and permissions within the information systems department to limit employees' access to sensitive data and critical systems. This helps ensure that individuals only have access to the resources necessary for their specific role and responsibilities.Implement oversight and review processes: Implement regular audits, reviews, and monitoring processes to detect any irregularities or potential control failures. This can involve periodic checks on employees' activities, reviewing logs and system activity reports, and conducting independent assessments of internal controls.Provide training and awareness: Educate employees about the importance of separation of duties and the risks associated with control failures. Provide training on security practices, ethical guidelines, and organizational policies to reinforce the understanding of their roles and responsibilities.

By combining these strategies, Arcadia Plastics can strike a balance between job rotation and maintaining well-separated duties within the information systems department. This approach ensures that employees gain diverse experiences while minimizing the risk of fraud, errors, and unauthorized access to critical resources.

d. $1,135.30

Anyone know how to do this?

Answers

No le entendí pero me ayudes a otros porque no tengo nadar

Answer:

D.) $1,135.30 at the end of 3 years

Explanation:

First method:

Formula for simple interest is I = P * R * T.

In this instance P = 3,000, R = 2.7, T = 5.

\(I=(3000)(0.027)(5)\\= $405\)

Second method:

The formula for annual compounding is \(A=P(1+r)^t\), where A = amount, P = principal (initial) amount, r = rate of growth, t = years.

\(A=5000(1+0.027)^3\)

=\(5416.0334\)

Third method:

The formula for periods within a year is \(A=P(1+\frac{r}{n})^n^t\). There is now the added value of n (number of periods per year). Since there are 3 quarters per year, n will be 4.

\(A=5000(1+\frac{0.039}{4})^4^*^3\\=5000(1.00975)^1^2\\= 5617.4129\)

Sum after 3 years is $1,135.30

A scanner cannot be placed in a corner because it needs to have at least three sides free.

Placing a scanner near a window can cause it to overheat.

If Dominic swerves but Deckard doesn’t, they will not crash, but Dominic will lose face and get a payoff of -100 while Deckard will feel superior and get a payoff of 100. If Deckard swerves but Dominic doesn’t, they will not crash, but Deckard will lose face and get a payoff of -100 while Dominic will feel superior and get a payoff of 100.1
a. Draw the payoff matrix for Dominic and Deckard.
b. Does anyone have a dominant strategy?
c. What is (are) the Nash Equilibrium (equilibria)?
d. Could they be better off if they were allowed to communicate?

Answers

a) The payoff matrix for Dominic and Deckard can be represented as follows:

              | Dominic Swerves | Dominic Doesn't Swerve

--------------------------------------

Deckard Swerves | (0, 0)          | (100, -100)

--------------------------------------

Deckard Doesn't Swerve | (-100, 100)     | (-50, -50)

b) No one has a dominant strategy in this game. A dominant strategy is a strategy that yields the highest payoff regardless of the opponent's choice. In this case, neither Dominic nor Deckard has a strategy that is always superior to the other regardless of the opponent's choice.

c) The Nash Equilibrium is a situation where no player has an incentive to unilaterally change their strategy. In this game, the Nash Equilibria occur when both players choose to swerve or when both players choose not to swerve. In the first case, both players receive a payoff of (0, 0), and in the second case, both players receive a payoff of (-50, -50). These outcomes are stable because neither player can improve their payoff by changing their strategy unilaterally.

d) Allowing communication between Dominic and Deckard could potentially lead to a better outcome for both players. By communicating, they could reach a mutual agreement to swerve and avoid the collision, resulting in a payoff of (0, 0) for both players. This outcome is preferable to the situation where they both refuse to swerve and end up with a payoff of (-50, -50), which is worse for both of them. Communication allows for coordination and the possibility of achieving a mutually beneficial outcome.

b) blend fundamental principles with a significant number of specific rules.
c) blend fundamental principles with a limited number of specific rules.
d) none of the above.

Answers

The correct answer is b) blend fundamental principles with a significant number of specific rules.

Established codes of conduct for accounting and financial services professionals should strike a balance between fundamental principles and specific rules.

Fundamental principles provide a broad ethical framework that guides professionals' behavior and decision-making, while specific rules offer detailed guidance on how to apply those principles in practice.

By blending both principles and rules, codes of conduct become more comprehensive and adaptable, ensuring that professionals have clear guidelines to follow in various situations.

Including a significant number of specific rules helps address specific ethical challenges that professionals may encounter in their day-to-day work, providing practical guidance on how to handle them.

deficit spending causes interest rates to inc. so that consumers and businesses don't borrow at such a high interest rate so they__

Answers

Deficit spending causes interest rates to increase, so that consumers and businesses don't borrow at such a high interest rate, leading them to reduce borrowing and spending.

Deficit spending refers to the situation when a government spends more money than it collects in revenue, typically during an economic downturn to stimulate growth. This increased spending can be funded by borrowing money, which increases the demand for loans in the economy.

As demand for loans increases, interest rates, which are the cost of borrowing, also rise. Higher interest rates make it more expensive for consumers and businesses to borrow money. As a result, they may decide to reduce borrowing and spending to avoid paying high interest on loans.

When consumers and businesses reduce their borrowing and spending, it can help to stabilize the economy by slowing down inflation and preventing excessive spending. At the same time, the government's deficit spending can continue to provide economic stimulus, creating a balance between public and private spending.

In summary, deficit spending leads to increased interest rates, causing consumers and businesses to reduce borrowing and spending. This helps control inflation and excessive spending in the economy while still allowing the government to provide necessary economic stimulus through deficit spending.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Read the speech and answer the question.Voluntourism: An Opportunity Too Good to be TrueA Speech to the Student Body of Evergreen High[1] Picture this: It's Spring Break, and you fly off to some country where there's lush rainforests and beautiful, blue coastlines to explore. There's also people in need, so you decide to blend your vacation with volunteering. Volunteering as a tourist, or voluntourism, seems like a great way to explore new regions and help people at the same time. However, this "volunteer plus travel" experience can actually harm local communities. While many teens might view traveling and volunteering abroad as a worthwhile adventure, there are more genuine and effective ways to make a difference.[2] Most would agree that volunteering in general is a worthy use of time. However, what if you found out the children you are "helping" are actually being kept in poor conditions so voluntourists will spend money to come to the local area? Dale Rolfe, a supporter of ethical voluntourism, explains the shocking reality that "Animal sanctuaries and orphanages are often manufactured for the voluntourist...encouraging a cycle of exploiting the very animals and children the volunteers are trying to help."[3] Proponents of the "volunteer plus travel" experience also argue that traveling to new places builds character and is a valuable way to learn about different cultures. With voluntourism, however, participants often pursue experiences that are all about them. For example, they sign up to build a school for a gold star on their resume, but they have no real building skills and take jobs away from local construction workers (Schulten). Or, they arrive to teach English but instead take selfies with the locals. One world traveler and ethical voluntourist believes voluntourism "can perpetuate small minded views of the world by taking insulated, fake, and structured experiences and selling them as unabridged and eye opening" (Carlos). The voluntour experience is a mirage. The voluntourist's eyes are not opened to real life at the destination, and lasting change is not achieved.[4] If you want a genuine experience where you can see a lasting impact, there are better options than voluntourism. You can volunteer in your local community. Give an hour every week to your town's animal rescue. Serve monthly dinners to the homeless. Be a reliable, positive influence on a child who needs a mentor. Studies show that volunteering and forming lasting relationships with those you help has a positive impact on your physical and emotional health. In fact, blood pressure is reduced, memory is improved, and rates of depression are reduced (Michaels).[5] There is another reason to look into alternatives to voluntourism. Did you know the average "voluntour" travel package costs $3,400 (Rolfe)? Could that travel money be better spent? If the world's citizens are your passion, it could go to an international organization. If you care about education, your funds can be used to buy books for students in faraway lands. If you want villagers to have clean water, contribute funds to local efforts to dig wells. If you want to experience a different culture, travel to the country as a guest, and learn from the locals how you can best help them after you've returned home. But do not voluntour.[6] In reality, there are better ways to make a difference. Voluntourism might appear to be an adventure that blends travel and helping others, but it does little except provide a costly, superficial experience that might actually do more harm than good. So, volunteer where you are most needed-at home, where you can stay to see the job through and form genuine, lasting relationships. Choose a beautiful coastline closer to home and send the travel money you saved to an international organization that will put it to good use. Whatever you do, don't turn someone else's hardship into your vacation.Which paragraphs address the counterclaim of the argument?
