Now, it being Christmas when the ship shot from out her harbor, for a space we had biting Polar weather, though all the time running away from it to the southward; and by every degree and minute of latitude which we sailed, gradually leaving that merciless winter, and all its intolerable weather behind us. It was one of those less lowering, but still grey and gloomy enough mornings of the transition, when with a fair wind the ship was rushing through the water with a vindictive sort of leaping and melancholy rapidity, that as I mounted to the deck at the call of the forenoon watch, so soon as I leveled my glance towards the taffrail, foreboding shivers ran over me. Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code is a form of bankruptcy reorganization that allows a debtor to reorganize their debts and assets in order to pay off creditors over a set period of time, usually three to five years.

What is Bankruptcy Code?

Bankruptcy Code is a federal law that provides individuals and businesses with a legal means to restructure or eliminate their debts. It is a complex set of laws that are designed to protect debtors from aggressive creditors, while also providing creditors with a legal avenue to obtain payment on their claims. It works by allowing individuals and businesses to declare bankruptcy, which then triggers a court-supervised process. This process gives debtors the chance to reorganize their finances and reach a payment plan with creditors, or to have their debts discharged altogether. Bankruptcy Code is a powerful tool for debtors, and can help them move forward with a fresh financial start.

It is often used by businesses that are facing financial hardship due to large amounts of debt, which can be restructured under Chapter 11. In addition, Chapter 11 also allows for the restructuring of contracts with creditors and other parties. A successful reorganization plan can help a business get back on its feet and provide a viable path forward.

why do some firms choose not to expand internationally

Answers

if your talking about law firms maybe because they dont want to be global so they can keep the cases low or maybe loyalty to customers

There are a variety of reasons why some firms choose not to expand internationally. The cost, risk, and potential lack of resources or expertise can all be factors in a firm’s decision to stay domestic.

One of the main reasons why firms choose not to expand internationally is the cost involved. Expanding into a new market requires a significant investment in terms of resources, infrastructure, and personnel. This can be a major financial burden for some firms, especially smaller ones.

Another reason why some firms choose not to expand internationally is the risk involved. Doing business in a new country can be risky due to the unfamiliarity with the local market and culture. This can lead to costly mistakes and missteps that can damage a firm’s reputation and bottom line.

Finally, some firms may choose not to expand internationally because they are already successful in their domestic market. If a firm is already doing well in its home country, it may not see the need to expand into new markets. Additionally, some firms may not have the resources or expertise to successfully expand into a new market.

"if a singer's songs transcend musical genres, would you be able to easily classify the songs as county or rock?"

Answers

The answer to this question would be no, you cannot drink any longer a transcend song into either or one musical genre at most you could call it a fusion

Answer:What is music? Is it a simple strum on the banjo or a raging squeal from an electric guitar? Why not both? In many cultures today, music is not limited to only one genre. Music can range from heavy metal, to classical, to country. The question isn’t what music is, but rather what does music do. Different types of music elicit different emotions, but “in order to be moved by music (physically and emotionally),” Daniel Levitin argues, “it helps a great deal to have a readily predictable beat” (Levitin, 2006, pp 166). Levitin refers to this beat at groove—“that quality that moves the song forward” (Levitin, 2006, 166). The emotions people feel from listening to music are interpreted by the entire brain. Negative emotions are interpreted in the right hemisphere of the brain and positive emotions are interpreted in the left hemisphere (Davis and Palladino, 2006, pp 262). Music has the power to change people’s feelings; in fact, music therapy has recently become a popular method of helping people deal with problems such as stress, anxiety, and pain (Music Therapy Makes a Difference, 2004). Therapists also recommend music as a means of “positive change in mood and emotional states” (Shinn, 2005). So what genres of music are best for enhancing one’s mood? Which genres create negative emotions in the listeners? In our paper we will explore the many faces of music, and determine what effect different genres of music have on emotions.

Jazz music originated at the turn of the 20th century in New Orleans. Often associated with Louis Armstrong and improvisation, jazz has not only played a major role in American history, it also can play a role in the emotions felt by one listening to it. Just as there are many genres of music, there are many types of jazz. Levitin lists a few: “Dixieland, boogie-woogie, big band, swing, bebop, ‘straight-ahead,’ acid-jazz, fusion, and metaphysical” (Levitin, 2006, pp 232) and these can stir up many different emotions, such as sadness, happiness, and excitement.

Robots on Earth
by Jerry West
Explosions. Car chases. A man and woman, drenched in sweat, limping from a building as it crumbles to the ground, muster the last of their strength to rescue humanity from its inevitable extinction at the cold, metal hands of humanoid creatures with artificial intelligence gone awry. For decades, books and movies have dictated how we think of robots. Simply the word "robot" can bring to mind images of evil, mechanical creatures bent on taking over the world and wiping out every glimmer of humanity. And yet, the truth of machines is dramatically different. Today's robots hold little in common with their villainous cousins from action-packed science fiction. Most robots have no interest in harming the human population at all; they exist to aid people in making life safer, healthier, and more productive.
For example, jobs such as welding and painting are important to civilization as we know it, but experience has taught us that these activities can be hazardous to human health. In addition, fumes in automobile and airplane factories can harm organic bodies that become exposed to their toxins in the assembly process. Even when the best precautions are taken, workers may still suffer from a lack of adequate ventilation. What is the answer to these problematic dilemmas? Robots. Because machines don't rely on clean air or comfortable temperatures, because they can function even in the midst of deadly gasses, they can take over easily where humans would suffer greatly. Working together, humans and robots can get the job done.
A robot's job isn't limited to the terrestrial level, either. Even in space, machines such as the R2 humanoid robot at the International Space Station complete dangerous tasks for astronauts, protecting them from potentially deadly situations. And then, when there are mundane but essential tasks to conduct on the space station, R2 takes care of those, as well, freeing up the astronauts' time for more important responsibilities. Thus, robots manage to create healthier, happier humans in space and on Earth.
In fact, there are robots on Earth that exist specifically to boost human health. Just as contact lenses enhance human sight, robotics can increase human mobility. People with disabilities and various forms of paralysis now have hope that they can achieve a better range of motion, when before this wasn't possible. With the help of robots, scientists are working to create an exoskeleton that will attach itself to the outside of the human body, establishing a connection to the human brain. Neuroscientist Miguel Nicolelis has a dream. "We are working with the Brazilian government, which is helping fund the project. At the 2014 soccer World Cup celebrations, we hope to have a Brazilian teenager with quadriplegia walk out and make the opening kick."
Explosions and car crashes may sell tickets for the summer blockbuster, but robots have so much more to offer, and much of it is a positive service to humans. At the heart of the field of robotics is not the creation of people-destroying machines with evil artificial intelligence, but something much more useful. Robots aren't our enemies; instead, they are the valuable result of scientific endeavors to create safer lives for people everywhere.

Answers

According to the instructions, we can create a summary of this text on robots by putting one main idea sentence at the beginning of each paragraph.

In contrast to the portrayal of robots in literature and film, the majority of robots are used to save and enhance human lives. Robots, for instance, are the answer discovered to prevent people from getting hurt or ill while performing risky professions.

Even in space, robots like the R2 carry out duties that astronauts could find unsafe or time-consuming. Robots can also be affixed to our bodies to assist those who are paralyzed or disabled in moving.

In conclusion, robots are not our adversaries; rather, they work to make human existence safer.

Turkle quotes a research by Stanford media psychologist Clifford Nass, who discovered that teenage girls who used social media more regularly were less sympathetic and experienced fewer good emotions from engaging with peers.

Turkle also makes reference to a Finnish study that links internet use to depressive disorders, loneliness, academic failure, and a lack of social interaction. These studies clearly show how social media has a detrimental influence on our capacity to establish sincere relationships with people.

Therefore, I have personally observed that social media can make it more difficult to make friends in person. Connectivity is important to keep 250 remote employees engaged and provide a collaborative platform to keep all 500 (400 domestic/100 international) employees connected globally. The company operates across 12 company offices as well as multiple remote locations for remote employees. Most company meetings are held via video conferencing since the employees work across multiple time zones. Thus, digital platforms (information technology), communication (customer engagement), and knowledge are all highly important intangible assets at DGI. Sharing data and ideas is a critical part of business and the collaboration fosters and boosts good team morale. Customer reputation is a significant element as well as maintaining customer relationships to ensure repeat business is vastly supported at DGI. Intangibles are considered to have a limited useful life, but those lives may be perpetual.
