Jack is selling tickets to a school play. He can sell a maximum of 50 tickets with childrens tickets being $5 and adult tickets costing $9. Jack must make a minimum of $65.

Create a system of inequalities to represent this situation.

Type the x-value of where they cross.

Answers

The system of Inequalities representing this situation is:x + y ≤ 50,

5x + 9y ≥ 65.

The variables:

Let x represent the number of children's tickets sold.

Let y represent the number of adult tickets sold.

We are given the following information:

- Jack can sell a maximum of 50 tickets, so the total number of tickets sold must be less than or equal to 50: x + y ≤ 50.

- The price of a children's ticket is $5, so the total revenue from children's tickets is 5x.

- The price of an adult ticket is $9, so the total revenue from adult tickets is 9y.

- Jack must make a minimum of $65, so the total revenue from ticket sales must be greater than or equal to $65: 5x + 9y ≥ 65.

Therefore, the system of inequalities representing this situation is:

x + y ≤ 50,

5x + 9y ≥ 65.

For the system of equations shown, what is the value of x+y? 3x+y=−6−3x−4y=−12

Answers

Answer:

x + y = -12 + 30 = 18

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this system of equations, we can use the elimination method. Multiplying the first equation by 3, we get:

9x + 3y = -18

Adding this to the second equation, we eliminate the x terms:

9x + 3y = -18

-3x - 4y = -12

-----------------

-y = -30

Solving for y, we get y = 30. Substituting this back into either equation, we can solve for x:

3x + 30 = -6

3x = -36

x = -12

Therefore, x + y = -12 + 30 = 18.

a manufacturer wishes to set a standard time required by employees to complete a certain process. times from 21 employees have a mean of 6 hours and a standard deviation of 2 hours. test if the mean processing time exceeds 5.5 hours. what is the -value of the test (round off to second decimal place)? assume normal population.

Answers

The -value of the test is 1.90. This indicates that the mean processing time is significantly greater than 5.5 hours, supporting the manufacturer's desire to set a standard time required by employees to complete a certain process

The t-value will be equal to 1.39 for the given statistics.

How to calculate the t-value?

To test if the mean processing time exceeds 5.5 hours, we can use a one-sample t-test.

The null hypothesis is that the mean processing time is less than or equal to 5.5 hours:

H0: µ ≤ 5.5

The alternative hypothesis is that the mean processing time is greater than 5.5 hours:

Ha: µ > 5.5

We will use a significance level of 0.05.

The formula for the t-test statistic is:

t = (X - µ) / (s / √n)

Where:

X = sample mean

µ = hypothesized population mean

s = sample standard deviation

n = sample size

Substituting the given values, we get:

t = (6 - 5.5) / (2 / √21) = 1.386

The degree of freedom for the t-test is n-1 = 20.

Using a t-table or calculator, the p-value associated with a t-value of 1.386 and 20 degrees of freedom is 0.093.

Since the p-value (0.093) is greater than the significance level (0.05), we fail to reject the null hypothesis. Therefore, there is not enough evidence to suggest that the mean processing time exceeds 5.5 hours.

A boat is heading towards a lighthouse, whose beacon-light is 113 feet above thewater. From point A, the boat's crew measures the angle of elevation to the beacon,10°, before they draw closer. They measure the angle of elevation a second time frompoint B at some later time to be 21°. Find the distance from point A to point B.Round your answer to the nearest foot if necessary.

Answers

The following picture represents an explanation to the given question:

CD represents the beacon

We need to find the distance AB

The measure of the angle C = 90

At the triangle BCD,

The measure of the angle CDB = 90 - 21 = 69

Using the sine law, we will find the length of BD

So,

\(\begin{gathered} \frac{BD}{\sin90}=\frac{CD}{\sin 21} \\ BD=CD\cdot\frac{\sin90}{\sin21}=\frac{CD}{\sin 21} \end{gathered}\)

At the triangle ABC

The measure of the angle CDA = 90 - 10 = 80

So, the measure of the angle ADB = angle CDA - angle CDB = 80 - 69 = 11

At the triangle ADB, using sin law:

\(\begin{gathered} \frac{AB}{\sin D}=\frac{BD}{\sin A} \\ \\ AB=BD\cdot\frac{\sin D}{\sin A}=BD\cdot\frac{\sin 11}{\sin 10} \end{gathered}\)

substitute with the value of BD and CD s

So,

\(AB=\frac{CD}{\sin21}\cdot\frac{\sin11}{\sin10}=\frac{113\cdot\sin 11}{\sin 21\cdot\sin 10}=346.4798\)

Rounding the answer to the nearest foot

So, the answer will be AB = 346 ft

Which of the following factors does NOT control the stability of a slope?
the angle of repose for intact bedrock
whether the slope is rock or soil
the amount of water in the soil
the orientation of fractures, cleavage, and bedding

Answers

The factor that does NOT control the stability of a slope is the angle of repose for intact bedrock. The angle of repose refers to the steepest angle at which a pile of loose material remains stable without sliding. It is mainly applicable to loose materials like soil and granular substances, not intact bedrock.

Bedrock stability depends on factors such as its strength, fracturing, and geological properties, rather than the angle of repose. Factors that control the stability of a slope include whether the slope is rock or soil. Rock slopes tend to be more stable than soil slopes due to the cohesive nature of intact rock.

The amount of water in the soil also affects slope stability, as excessive water can increase pore pressure and reduce the shear strength of the soil, leading to slope failure. Additionally, the orientation of fractures, cleavage, and bedding in the rock can influence slope stability by creating planes of weakness or strength.

To summarize, while the angle of repose is a significant factor in slope stability, it is not applicable to intact bedrock. The stability of a slope is influenced by the type of material (rock or soil), the presence of water, and the orientation of fractures and bedding.

From the question, we have the following parameters that can be used in our computation:

The center town forms a parallelogram with the vertices

A = (0, 4); B = (6, 1); C = (4, -3); D = (-2, 0)

The corner points when placed on a coordinate grid can be calculated using

Mid-point = 1/2(x1 + y1, x2 + y2)

So, we have

Center = 1/2 * (0 + 4, 4 - 3) or

Center = 1/2 * (6 - 2, 1 + 0)

Evaluate

Center = (2, 1/2) or Center = (2, 1/2)

2 to 10=8 so 5 more went to 8 more.

Next is 3 and 14 so 3 more again because 8 + 3=11 so in that case that next number is 4 it will be 14 more

So 14 more than 4=18 and that is the output.

Let S = {7, 20} and y = {-1, 0, 9}.

Dot product with the first vector: (-1)⋅7 = -7

Dot product with the second vector: 0⋅20 = 0

y = (-7/149)⋅7 + (0/400)⋅20 = (-7/149)⋅7

He lost his wife a number of years ago due to illness, and he has not remarried nor does he plan to do so. He has one daughter and two grandchildren. Over the years Henry has saved money and invested wisely. He has approximately $1,500,000 in bank accounts and CDS and $7,500,000 of securities in his investment portfolio. A schedule of his investments is below. He has a good pension that covers more than his monthly living expenses and includes full health coverage (Medicare and a Medicare supplement); he has long term care insurance coverage: and he lives in his home which is valued at. $1,750,000 and that has no mortgage. Henry is in a 25% marginal tax bracket. Henry lives a simple life and does not expect to need to use any of his investments for living expenses. One of his two grandchildren is just starting college, and the other will be starting in the next several years. He would like to give them each $100,000 to help with college costs. He also has been a member of his church for many years and would like to give the church $100,000. Henry wants to make these gifts/donations before the end of the current calendar year. He does not want to pass these gifts through his estate when he passes on because he would like to see his money put to good use while he is alive. He is not sure about tax issues and has come to you for advice bout any tax issues related to these planned gifts. A portion of his investment portfolio as of Aus. 31 of the current year is shown below. Write a response to Henry. Note that the grandchildren's current income from part-time jobs is under $5,000 per year and they will sell any securities that they receive from Henry in order to pay for college. Write a recommendation to Henry that will explain to him how he should cover his planned gifts and donations. Provide specific instructions for each of the grandchildren and for his church (three sets of recommendations). If you recommend gifting or donating securities, identify the specific securities to be gifted or donated and the party that will receive them, Also, be clear on whether the securities will be gifted or donated. If you recommend that Henry sells securities to make any gifts, identify the specific securities to be sold. In all cases, remember to address the tax consequences to Henry. Note that Henry does not want to reduce his bank or CD account balances, so any gifts or donations must come through his securities portfolio.
