When the British charged up the hill to fight, they retreated, ran back, and tried again. Next on their second try, the patriots ran low on ammo, with an effect of making the British win the Battle. At the battle of Lexington and Concord, the British continue to march on to Concord to fight, but due to the little success for the patriots, their militia increases to over twenty thousand. But even with a large number of men in the militia, the colonists were again forced to retreat.
On October 22, 1752, Catherine Moore Barry was born. She was the daughter of Charles and Mary Moore, and was the eldest of 10 children, and lived in Piedmont, South Carolina until she was married to Andrew Barry at age 15, and moved to Walnut Grove Plantation in Roebuck, South Carolina. The Barry family had three children. Her husband Andrew became a general in the war, and Kate often fought with him in some battles. Kate became a spy and a messenger of the Revolutionary War.
