Can Someone Please Explain To Me Why When You Try To Solve This Quadratic Equation, It's Not Possible?

Answers

Answer 1

it is coz when u solve for a quadratic equation the number inside the square root has to be positive,

for example,  the square root of positive 16 is 4
                        which means 4^2 is positive 16

                        but there is no number that is being squared and gives -16
                        coz -4^2 or -4*-4 is positive 16, which means negative times negative is positive. I hope it has helped you:)

You have been asked to evaluate the cost-to-cost trade-offs for the following situation:
Diesel fuel cost of $8.64 per gallon
Distance to be covered =720 miles
Miles per gallon at 90mph=8
Miles per gallon at 83mph=10
Cost of delay due to the slower mph=$630

Based on the cost-to-cost trade-off calculations, the company should choose the ______ (a. 83/ b. 90) mph speed at a total cost (including any delay costs, where applicable) of $_____. (Enter your response hearest dollar.)

Answers

Based on the cost-to-cost trade-off calculations, the company should choose the 83 mph speed, resulting in a total cost of $764.

To evaluate the cost-to-cost trade-offs, we need to consider the fuel cost and the cost of delay due to slower mph. The distance to be covered is 720 miles. At a speed of 90 mph, the fuel efficiency is 8 miles per gallon, and at 83 mph, it is 10 miles per gallon. The diesel fuel cost is $8.64 per gallon, and the cost of delay due to slower mph is $630.
To calculate the total cost for each speed, we divide the distance by the miles per gallon to determine the number of gallons needed. Then, we multiply the number of gallons by the fuel cost per gallon and add the cost of delay, if applicable.
For 90 mph: Total fuel cost = (720 miles / 8 miles per gallon) * $8.64 per gallon = $777.60.
For 83 mph: Total fuel cost = (720 miles / 10 miles per gallon) * $8.64 per gallon = $622.08.
Adding the cost of delay for 83 mph: Total cost = $622.08 + $630 = $1252.08.
Therefore, choosing the 83 mph speed results in a total cost of $764, which is lower than the total cost of $1252.08 for the 90 mph speed. Thus, the company should choose the 83 mph speed according to the cost-to-cost trade-off calculations.

Answers

The two joggers who are 21 miles apart travel at a speed 8 mph and 6 mph respectively and would meet after one and half hours.

What is an equation?

An equation is an expression used to show the relationship between two or more variables and numbers.

Let a represent the speed of the faster jogger and represent the speed of the other jogger. Hence:

a = b + 2 (1)

Also:

In one and half hour (1.5 h):

a = d₁/1.5

d₁ = 1.5a

b = d₂/1.5

d₂ = 1.5b

d₁+ d₂ = 21

1.5a + 1.5b = 21   (2)

From both equation 1 and 2:

a = 8, b = 6

The speed of the joggers is 8 mph and 6 mph respectively.

To collect quality data on what games should be played at the elementary school's field day, Sara and Tristan could survey a group of individuals who have relevant knowledge and experience. Here are some potential groups they could consider surveying

The primary audience for the field day event is the students themselves. Surveying elementary school students would provide valuable insights into their preferences, interests, and favorite games. They can distribute surveys or conduct interviews tailored to the age group to gather their input effectively.

The teachers and school staff members have a good understanding of the students' abilities, interests, and the games that have been successful in previous field day events. They can provide valuable insights based on their experience and observations.

Surveying parents of elementary school students can provide additional perspectives and insights. Parents often accompany their children to field day events and might have valuable input on games that have been enjoyable or successful in the past.

Consulting with the school's physical education teachers can be beneficial. They have expertise in designing activities and games suitable for elementary school students and can offer valuable recommendations based on their professional experience.

Surveying alumni or older students who have previously participated in field day events at the elementary school can provide insights based on their past experiences. They can share their favorite games and activities that they enjoyed during their time at the school.

When surveying any of these groups, it is important for Sara and Tristan to ensure a representative sample by including a diverse range of participants. This can be achieved by selecting participants from different grade levels, backgrounds, and interests. Additionally, using a mix of survey methods such as online surveys, paper-based surveys, or in-person interviews can help gather a more comprehensive range of responses.

The population of a country is growing at a rate proportional to its population. If the growth rate per year is 4% of the current population, how long will it take for the population to double

Answers

It will take approximately 17.3 years for the population to double if the growth rate per year is 4% of the current population.

The population of a country growing at a rate proportional to its population is modeled by the exponential growth equation:

P(t) = P0 e^(rt)

Where P(t) is the population after time t, P0 is the initial population, r is the growth rate, and e is the mathematical constant approximately equal to 2.71828.

In this case, the growth rate per year is 4% of the current population, so r = 0.04. We want to find how long it will take for the population to double, which means we want to find t such that P(t) = 2P0.

Substituting into our equation, we get:

2P0 = P0 e^(0.04t)

Dividing both sides by P0 and taking the natural logarithm of both sides, we get:

ln(2) = 0.04t

Solving for t, we get:

t = ln(2)/0.04

≈ 17.3 years

What is the first step Anika made from the original equation.

What is the first step Anika made from the original equation.

Answers

Answer:

She factored out a 4 from the equation.

Step-by-step explanation:

So our original equation is 12x + 4 = 20x - 12

Anika's first steep of her equation is 3x + 1 = 5x - 3

We know that the terms were not moved around, so the first step was likely multiplication or division.

We also see that a 4 has been factored out of the entire equation, like this:

12x + 4 = 20x - 12

4(3x + 4) = 4(5x - 3)

And these 4's cancel each other out.

So, I conclude that Anika's first step was dividing the entire equation by 4 or factoring out a 4 from the equation.

An equivalent DFA can be constructed.

A minimal DFA equivalent to the constructed DFA can be obtained.

A regular expression can be derived using the minimal DFA.

An equivalent grammar represented by the minimal DFA can be provided.

To create an equivalent DFA, we can start with the given language or regular expression and use the subset construction algorithm to convert it into a DFA. This algorithm involves creating states that represent the subsets of the original language's states.

Once the DFA is constructed, we can minimize it using algorithms such as the Hopcroft's algorithm or the Moore's algorithm. These algorithms identify equivalent states and merge them to create a minimal DFA. The resulting DFA will have the fewest number of states possible while still accepting the same language.

Using the minimal DFA, we can derive a regular expression that represents the same language. This can be done by applying the Arden's theorem or by using other techniques such as state elimination or state reduction.

An equivalent grammar can be represented by the minimal DFA by using the DFA to guide the construction of production rules. Each state in the DFA corresponds to a non-terminal symbol in the grammar, and the transitions between states represent the production rules. The start state of the DFA corresponds to the start symbol of the grammar, and the accepting states of the DFA correspond to the terminal symbols or productions that generate the desired language.

By performing these steps, we can establish different representations of the given language, including an equivalent DFA, a minimal DFA, a regular expression, and an equivalent grammar.
