A main theme of the poem is how although a lot has changed since the civil war, civil rights have not improved, as shown in the second answer option.
We can come up with this answer because:
The Speaker shows how there is no memorial to the first black regiment in the American Civil War, but there is a memorial to Shaw, a white man who led that regiment.Shaw was an abolitionist and his stance on behalf of the black population, in addition to his attitude of leading a black regiment, was important in strengthening civil rights ideals in America. For this reason, it was important to preserve the memory made for Shaw, as it represented abolitionism and the struggle for civil rights. However, urbanization damaged Shaw's memorial, showing that the ideals he and the black soldiers fought for were useless as society would ignore. When thinking about it, the speaker realizes that society has not evolved about civil rights and still maintains the black population with limited access to these rights and this is not only addressed by the devaluation of Shaw's monument, but also by the images of segregated schools and children living within that system.

GOLD IN THE SKY
By Alan E. Nourse
Chapter 1. Trouble Times Two
The sun was glowing dull red as it slipped down behind the curving horizon of Mars, but Gregory Hunter was not able to see it.
There was no viewscreen in the ship's cabin; it was too tiny for that. Greg twisted around in the cockpit that had been built just big enough to hold him, and shifted his long legs against the brace-webbing, trying to get them comfortable.
He knew he was afraid ... but nobody else knew that, not even the captain waiting at the control board on the satellite, and in spite of the fear Greg Hunter would not have traded places at this moment with anyone else in the universe.
He had worked too hard and waited too long for this moment.
He heard the count-down monitor clicking in his ears, and his hands clenched into fists. How far from Mars would he be 10 minutes from now? He didn't know. Farther than any man had ever traveled before in the space of 10 minutes, he knew, and faster. How far and how fast would depend on him alone.
"All set, Greg?" It was the captain's voice in the earphones.
"All set, Captain."
"You understand the program?"
Greg nodded. "24 hours out, 24 hours back, 90 degrees to the ecliptic1, and all the acceleration2 I can stand both ways."
Greg grinned to himself. He thought of the months of conditioning he had gone through to prepare for this run ... the hours in the centrifuge to build up his tolerance to acceleration, the careful diet, the rigorous hours of physical conditioning. It was only one experiment, one tiny step in the work that could someday give men the stars, but to Gregory Hunter at this moment it was everything.
"Good luck, then." The captain cut off, and the blastoff buzzer sounded.
He was off. His heart hammered in his throat, and his eyes ached fiercely, but he paid no attention. His finger crept to the air-speed indicator, then to the cut-off switch. When the pressure became too great, when he began to black out, he would press it.
But not yet. It was speed they wanted; they had to know how much acceleration a man could take for how long and still survive, and now it was up to him to show them.
Fleetingly, he thought of Tom ... poor old stick-in-the-mud Tom, working away in his grubby little Mars-bound laboratory, watching bacteria grow. Tom could never have qualified for a job like this. Tom couldn't even go into free-fall for 10 minutes without getting sick all over the place. Greg felt a surge of pity for his brother, and then a twinge of malicious anticipation. Wait until Tom heard the reports on this run! It was all right to spend your time poking around with bottles and test tubes if you couldn't do anything else, but it took something special to pilot an XP ship for Project Star-Jump. And after this run was over, even Tom would have to admit it....
There was a lurch, and quite suddenly the enormous pressure was gone.
Something was wrong. He hadn't pushed the cut-off button, yet the ship's engines were suddenly silent. He jabbed at the power switch. Nothing happened. Then the side-jets sputted, and he was slammed sideways into the cot.
He snapped on the radio speaker. "Control ... can you hear me? Something's gone wrong out here...."

2The process of moving faster or happening more quickly.

"If I am going to travel by rail I sha'n't need it. Lying at home in bed is the thing I am afraid of."
I had been looking into this matter. Last year I traveled twenty thousand miles, almost entirely by rail; the year before, I traveled over twenty-five thousand miles, half by sea and half by rail; and the year before that I traveled in the neighborhood of ten thousand miles, exclusively by rail. Harold listened to 2 songs from each act of a musical. Each act has an equal number of songs. Is this sample of the songs in the musical likely to be biased?
I understand that you need help with a question regarding Harold listening to 2 songs from each act of a musical and whether this sample is likely to be biased. Here's an explanation:
In this situation, Harold is sampling songs from a musical, where each act has an equal number of songs. A biased sample occurs when some members of the population have a higher probability of being chosen than others, leading to a non-representative sample.
Since Harold listens to 2 songs from each act, he is ensuring that each act has an equal representation in his sample. This helps reduce the likelihood of bias in his sample, as long as the songs he chooses within each act are also selected randomly.
However, if Harold is selecting specific songs within each act based on his personal preferences or any other criteria, it may introduce bias into his sample. In that case, the sample would not be representative of the overall musical.
In summary, Harold's method of sampling 2 songs from each act is less likely to be biased if he selects the songs randomly within each act, ensuring an equal representation of all acts in the musical. But if he selects songs based on his preferences, it could introduce bias into the sample, making it non-representative of the entire musical.

Inferences What similarity between death and immortality does the
speaker imply?
From: “Ode to a nightingale”
In "Ode to a Nightingale," the narrator initially believes that temporary solace can be found through charms like love and alcohol. However, in the seventh stanza, the narrator realizes that only death can truly free one from the world of pain. This shift in focus highlights the pursuit of eternal beauty and truth as a means to transcend mortality, suggesting that while death offers an escape, immortality grants a permanent release from suffering and a perpetual experience of beauty and truth.
The seventh stanza, in “Ode to a Nightingale,” provides a response to the sixth stanza. The sixth stanza concerns the narrator’s belief that “Charms” in life, such as love and alcohol, may be used to help them to escape the world of pain. On the other hand, in stanza seven, the narrator recognizes that this is just a temporary solution and that, ultimately, the way out of this world of pain is through death. As a result, the narrator’s focus shifts from the momentary solace offered by charms to a more overarching search for something eternal that transcends mortality.
The final two lines of the poem emphasize this point with the phrase “Beauty is truth, truth beauty,” suggesting that it is through the pursuit of eternal beauty that humans can overcome their mortality. In the fifth stanza of “Ode to a Nightingale,” the narrator is suggesting that a feeling of forgetfulness or oblivion can help the person to escape the pain of reality. This idea is carried forward in the sixth stanza as well, where the narrator uses the charms of life to get rid of the pain. In the seventh stanza, however, the narrator responds to this by suggesting that these charms are temporary and do not provide a permanent solution to the problem of pain.
The narrator believes that only death can take a person out of this world of pain and suffering. This implies a similarity between death and immortality, in the sense that both of them provide an escape from the world of pain and suffering. However, while death may be seen as the ultimate escape, immortality is an eternal one, allowing a person to experience beauty and truth without ever having to return to the pain and suffering of life.
