What is success? (This is a riddle a close answer to this was {Not giving up} it isn't not being a quitter and its not keep trying what is it?

Answers

Answer:

sucsess is doing good and finishing

Success can be defined as the achievement of a desired outcome or the attainment of a goal. It is often characterized by accomplishing something meaningful, fulfilling, or significant. While perseverance and determination play important roles in achieving success, the essence of success goes beyond simply "not giving up" or "keep trying." Success involves a combination of factors such as setting clear goals, developing effective strategies, taking decisive actions, learning from failures, adapting to challenges, and continuously growing and improving oneself. It encompasses both the journey and the outcome, as well as personal fulfillment and satisfaction. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of success involves a holistic perspective that encompasses various aspects of life and individual aspirations.

It may be difficult to tell when a story took place unless an author explicitly states it, but the presence or absence of technology can help a reader make an approximate guess as to when the story was set. If a character takes a plane ride, then the story very likely took place after World War II because commercial air travel became popular after the war. Of course, if the story mentions more recent advances like power windows or a driverless car, then it is far more recent. The absence of technology doesn't always mean that the story took place hundreds of years ago, it could just mean that mentioning technology was not necessary to tell the story.

Journal Entry: Finding a Recipe Online

Today I was feeling adventurous and decided to try a new dish for dinner. I searched online for some recipes and found one that looked delicious and easy to make. It was called **chicken and mushroom pie** and it had a lot of positive reviews.

I followed the instructions carefully and gathered all the ingredients. I had to chop some onions, garlic, mushrooms and chicken, and cook them in a skillet with some butter, flour, chicken stock, cream and herbs. Then I transferred the mixture to a pie dish and covered it with some puff pastry. I brushed some egg on top and baked it in the oven for about 25 minutes.

The result was amazing! The pie was golden and flaky on the outside, and creamy and savory on the inside. The chicken was tender and the mushrooms added a nice texture and flavor. It was very filling and satisfying, and I enjoyed every bite. I felt proud of myself for trying something new and succeeding.

I think I will make this dish again in the future, maybe with some variations. I wonder what other recipes I can find online that are easy and tasty. Maybe I will search for some desserts next time. I love exploring new cuisines and learning new skills in the kitchen.

Explanation:

In sentence B, "It was the frog that caught my eye on the lily pad in the pond," the phrase "on the lily pad in the pond" is a modifier that describes where the frog was located. However, the placement of this modifier creates confusion because it seems to modify "my eye" instead of "frog."

Read the following poem by Paul Laurence Dunbar and answer the question that follows.

Sympathy
I know what the caged bird feels, alas!
When the sun is bright on the upland slopes;
When the wind stirs soft through the springing grass,
And the river flows like a stream of glass;
When the first bird sings and the first bud opes,
And the faint perfume from its chalice steals--
I know what the caged bird feels!

I know why the caged bird beats his wing
Till its blood is red on the cruel bars;
For he must fly back to his perch and cling
When he fain would be on the bough a-swing;
And a pain still throbs in the old, old scars
And they pulse again with a keener sting--
I know why he beats his wing!

I know why the caged bird sings, ah me,
When his wing is bruised and his bosom sore,--
When he beats his bars and he would be free;
It is not a carol of joy or glee,
But a prayer that he sends from his heart's deep core,
But a plea, that upward to Heaven he fling--
I know why the caged bird sings!

Who Were the Spiders?

The Cooper family was about to move because Dad had a new job in Colorado. He had been out of work for a year, and Natalie and Mason knew he had been unhappy, but now a new job was making things look better. As Dad said, “Every cloud has a silver lining.”

Dad was already in Colorado, but Mom stayed behind so that the twins Natalie and Mason could finish fifth grade at Oak School. Today, Natalie and Mason were helping to pack boxes, and they enjoyed looking at the old treasures, especially the photo albums.

Natalie picked up a photo of a baseball team. The men’s uniforms had CLEVELAND printed on them. Someone had written 1895 on the photo.

Mason asked Mom, “Is there a famous baseball player in our family?”

“I don’t know of anyone in my family, but maybe there was someone in your dad’s family,” she said, “so remember to ask about the photo when you talk to your dad tonight.”

That night, Dad called, and Mason was eager to talk to him. “Dad, we found a photo today of a baseball team that played in 1895. Did one of your relatives play on a team a long time ago?”

Dad said, “It’s familiar, but I don’t know the story. Some of the photos are my father’s, so why don’t you call him and see if he knows?”

Grandpa Ken recalled that a relative played for a Cleveland team, a cousin of his great-grandfather whose last name was Zimmer. So, Grandpa suggested they look up early Cleveland teams.

Mason and Natalie headed for the computer and found a baseball encyclopedia. They discovered three early Cleveland teams: Cleveland Blue, 1879–1884; Cleveland Infants, 1890–1890; and Cleveland Spiders, 1887–1899.

Mason shouted, “We found the answer! Our 1895 photo must show the Cleveland Spiders.”

They looked for Cleveland Spiders and found an article. A new Cleveland ballpark had opened on May 2, 1891. Cy Young was the starting pitcher, and Zimmer was listed as one of the players. “That’s the cousin of our great-great-grandfather!” said Natalie.

Mason wanted to know more, so they searched a baseball almanac. In 1895, the team came in second. But in 1899, the Spiders were baseball’s worst team. Zimmer was a player on both teams. “Oh, well, you can’t win them all,” Natalie said.

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise,” Mom suddenly called from downstairs. It was time for bed! They would have to find out more about the Cleveland Spiders tomorrow.

Theme in Yellow
by Carl Sandburg

I spot the hills
With yellow balls in autumn.
I light the prairie cornfields
Orange and tawny gold clusters
And I am called pumpkins.
On the last of October
When dusk is fallen
Children join hands
And circle round me
Singing ghost songs
And love to the harvest moon;
I am a jack-o'-lantern
With terrible teeth
And the children know
I am fooling.

Set Verse
America
by Claude McKay

Although she feeds me bread of bitterness,
And sinks into my throat her tiger’s tooth,
Stealing my breath of life, I will confess
I love this cultured hell that tests my youth.
Her vigor flows like tides into my blood,
Giving me strength erect against her hate,
Her bigness sweeps my being like a flood.
Yet, as a rebel fronts a king in state,
I stand within her walls with not a shred
Of terror, malice, not a word of jeer.
Darkly I gaze into the days ahead,
And see her might and granite wonders there,
Beneath the touch of Time’s unerring hand,
Like priceless treasures sinking in the sand.

Answer:

In my opinion...

1) The free verse structure of Sandburg's poem affects its reading it by making you think more about what is being said by how the words are placed.

2) The poem that has a faster reading to me is "America" by Claude McKay.

3) It reads faster to me because the words are not spaced out as much and it flows much nicer than the other poem.

I hope this helps!! :)

Answer: The free verse in the poem “Theme in Yellow” forces readers to pause and consider each line of the poem. The poem also sounds more chaotic because of its form.

On the other hand, in a sonnet such as “America,” the reader is likely to read the whole poem quickly. “America” also seems more harmonious. Because of its ababcdcdefefgg rhyme scheme, it has a more lyrical quality, and it is more predictable in form, so the reader can read the poem fluidly and rhythmically.

Don't open the door to strangers.

There was a knock at their door. Jonna, 13, loved being home alone, she had even gone as far to say that being home alone was the only peaceful time she ever got. Jonna lived in the countryside with her Mom, Julie and Dad, David and two little brothers Kevin and Nellie. She described her town as a place where "there were more cows than people". This didn't bother Jonna because she got all the loud erratic excitement you would hear in a busy town, by just sitting with her brothers for ten minutes. "It's exhausting!" Jonna cried to her mother, "they scream and yell and leave their toys everywhere, they leave perfectly good rooms, fire hazards! Hell, they're fire hazards!". Jonna's Mom sighed, "well I don't know what you want me to do about it.". Jonna rolled her eyes, "cant you take them with you?" Jonna said looking exasperated, "to the airport? yeah right", Julie laughed sarcastically, "they will be just fine here, they're not as terrible as you make them out to be". Seconds later they hear glass shatter in the room the boys are in. Julie picks up her purse in a hurry, heading towards the door, "Can you get that?". Jonna doesn't even have time to complain and her mother is gone. Her night was horrible loud screams and laughs from her brothers, made her head spin, it was torture. She was about to go make Kevin and Nellie a snack when she heard a knocking at the front door, she froze. She can't remember ever having anyone knock on the door, family and friends just came right in and that was about all the people she had seen come to her home. Jonna crept over to the front door window cautiously but before she knew it her brothers came bolting down the stairs and opened the door. Her heart dropped, it was a man, he had a gun.

Overfishing, ocean warming, and pollution are all variables that diminish the predators and competitors of moon jellyfish while increasing their prey.
