YES Give people a reason to recycle! BY MICHELLE GREENE ottle bills are a great idea, and more states should have them. Why? Research shows that these laws get more people to B recycle and getting more people to recycle is imperative. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, only 32 percent of all the waste produced in the U.S. recycled or composted.* Thirty two percent! Just think how much less waste would end up in landfills if more people recycled. Bottle Bills Work As I said, bottle bills are effective. According to the Container Recycling Institute, 60 percent of beverage containers get recycled in the states with bottle bills. In the states that do not have bottle bills, recycling rates are only about 24 percent. Clearly, giving people money encourages them to recycle. And there's another benefit to bottle bills: They cut down on litter. A 2019 study of trash along coastlines (where a lot of trash eventually ends up) found that in states without bottle bills, bottles and cans accounted for about 18 percent of all litter.** In states ZERO: -WASTE- 12 Scholastic Scope - March 2021 with bottle bills, bottles and cans accounted for less than 9 percent of all litter. That's a really big difference. In a Perfect World The fact is, there are many benefits to recycling beyond reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills. Recycling saves energy and reduces pollution. It even creates jobs. A 2016 EPA report found that recycling accounted for nearly 700,000 jobs! The more we recycle, the cleaner and better off our communities and our planet-will be. Now, some people believe we shouldn't need a reward for doing things that help the environment. And I agree_ In a perfect world, we would all recycle simply because it's the right thing to do. But we don't live in a perfect world. So why not provide an extra incentive for people to recycle? What matters is that we all recycle as much as possible. The reason we do it is less important. Helping Communities Here's something else to consider: Bottle bills help communities. For example, in Connecticut, people can donate bottles and cans to a group called "Cans for Kids." The group returns the recyclables and donates most of the money it ge to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, S the group has donated more than $500,000. Helping others while also helping our environment seems like a win-win to me.. Environmental Protection Aga **Clean Virginia Waterways of Longwood
Bottle bills are an effective way to encourage recycling and address the low recycling rates in the United States.
Currently, only 32 percent of waste produced in the U.S. is recycled or composted according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Bottle bills, which impose a small deposit on beverage containers that is refunded when they are returned for recycling, have proven to be successful in increasing recycling rates.
Research from the Container Recycling Institute shows that states with bottle bills have a recycling rate of 60 percent for beverage containers, whereas states without bottle bills have a recycling rate of only about 24 percent. This significant difference demonstrates that providing a financial incentive encourages people to recycle.
Additionally, bottle bills have the added benefit of reducing litter. A study of trash along coastlines found that in states without bottle bills, bottles and cans accounted for about 18 percent of all litter, while in states with bottle bills, they accounted for less than 9 percent.
Recycling goes beyond reducing waste in landfills; it also saves energy, reduces pollution, and creates jobs. A 2016 EPA report indicated that recycling accounted for nearly 700,000 jobs. By recycling more, we can contribute to cleaner communities and a healthier planet.
While it would be ideal for everyone to recycle without needing a reward, the reality is that incentives can make a significant difference in motivating people to take action. By providing an extra incentive like bottle bills, we can encourage more individuals to recycle and ultimately achieve better recycling rates.
In addition to the environmental benefits, bottle bills can also help communities. For example, in Connecticut, people can donate bottles and cans to organizations like "Cans for Kids," which returns the recyclables and donates the proceeds to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. This demonstrates how bottle bills can support charitable causes while also promoting environmental sustainability, creating a win-win situation.
In conclusion, bottle bills are an effective solution to increase recycling rates, reduce litter, and promote environmental and community benefits. By providing a financial incentive, we can motivate more people to recycle and make a positive impact on our environment and society.

It is an example of sprung rhythm
O It is an example of iambic pentameter.
O It is an example of dialect poetry.
O It is an exan Ne of free verse.
It is an example of free verse describes this excerpt from T.S. Eliot's "Preludes". So the option D is correct.
This passage from T.S. Eliot's "Preludes" contains imagery that beautifully captures the bustling morning in a city. The morning is characterised as having a stale beer scent, probably from the previous evening. The street is characterized as having been trampled and made muddy by all the feet that have walked into it on their way to coffee shops for their morning brew.
Eliot can depict the frenetic energy and spirit of a morning in the city without being restricted by conventional poetic conventions thanks to the use of free verse in this poem. Eliot captures the city's bustle and the accompanying sense of life and activity by adopting this approach. So the option D is correct.

Describe the thesis of Frederick Jackson Turner. What type of American fit into his thesis and which groups were not accounted for in his thesis
Frederick Jackson Turner's thesis, often referred to as the "Frontier Thesis," was presented in his 1893 paper titled "The Significance of the Frontier in American History." Turner argued that the existence and settlement of the American frontier played a vital role in shaping American society and character.
According to Turner, the frontier experience had a transformative impact on American identity and democracy.
believed that the frontier provided a distinct social and economic environment where individuals could escape the constraints of European society and establish a new way of life. Turner saw the frontier as a crucible of democracy, where egalitarian values, self-reliance, and individualism were fostered.
Turner's thesis posited that the "frontier" experience had shaped the American character, creating a unique and distinct type of American. This "frontier American" was characterized by traits such as ruggedness, adaptability, resourcefulness, and a spirit of democracy.
However, Turner's thesis had limitations in terms of the groups it accounted for. It largely focused on white settlers and pioneers, neglecting the experiences and contributions of Native Americans, African Americans, and other marginalized groups. The perspectives and struggles of these groups were largely absent from Turner's analysis, leading to criticism of his thesis for its limited scope and failure to acknowledge the complexities of American history beyond the frontier narrative.

In Martin Luther King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail," he utilizes both induction and deduction as a means of bolstering his argument. King uses inductive reasoning when he speaks about the events that led up to the present moment.
He begins with specific instances of segregation, such as the bombing of the Gaston Motel in Birmingham, to generalize the overall condition of African Americans in Birmingham. He shows how the pattern of racism and oppression has evolved over time to develop a narrative of a long-standing issue of discrimination against African Americans.
Deduction: King uses deductive reasoning when he argues against the idea that civil rights legislation should be delayed. He argues that the idea of waiting for civil rights legislation to be enacted is unfeasible and unreasonable. By using a syllogism, he shows that the argument for delay is fundamentally flawed.
