His father’s voice came to him again, first reading the letter the principal had sent to the house, then lecturing endlessly about his poor efforts in math. “I had to leave school when I was thirteen,” his father had said, “that’s a year younger than you are now. If I’d had half the chances you have, I’d . . .” Greg sat in the small, pale green kitchen listening, knowing the lecture would end with his father saying he couldn’t play ball with the Scorpions. A student wants to include information from this excerpt in an essay about how Greg Ridley changes from the beginning of the story to the end. Which paraphrased text best addresses the main points in this excerpt? Write me 5 paragraph essay
It is an argumentative essay
You have to write about “ can you do anything that you put your mind to?
Answer: Introduction:
The notion of potentially achieving anything we set our minds to is an idea that has been around for centuries, and it’s an idea that many people still believe in today. The idea that we can do anything we put our minds to is an incredibly powerful one, but is it actually true? Can anyone really do anything they put their mind to, or are there certain limits that must be taken into consideration? In this argumentative essay, I will explore both sides of this debate, discussing the potential benefits and drawbacks of believing that we can do anything we set our minds to.
Body Paragraph 1:
On one hand, believing that you can do anything you put your mind to can be a powerful motivator. This belief can give people the confidence they need to take risks and reach for their dreams. It can also be a great source of inspiration, helping people to stay focused on their goals even in the face of adversity. Furthermore, it can be argued that, with enough hard work and dedication, anything is possible. This can be seen in countless examples throughout history of ordinary people achieving extraordinary things.
Body Paragraph 2:
However, it can also be argued that the belief that we can do anything we put our minds to is overly optimistic and potentially dangerous. For example, believing that anything is possible can lead to unrealistic expectations and disappointment when those expectations are not met. Furthermore, some things may simply be beyond our reach, no matter how hard we try. Additionally, this belief could create a sense of entitlement and a lack of understanding of the importance of working hard and taking responsibility for our actions.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, while the idea that we can do anything we put our minds to can be a powerful motivator, there are also potential drawbacks to this belief. Ultimately, the truth lies somewhere in the middle, and it is up to each individual to decide whether or not they believe that they can achieve anything they set their minds to

Read the following passage from "What Does American Democracy Mean to Me" by Mary McLeod Bethune and answer the question that follows:
As we have been extended a measure of democracy, we have brought to the nation rich gifts. We have helped to build America with our labor, strengthened it with our faith and enriched it with our song. We have given you Paul Lawrence Dunbar, Booker T. Washington, Marian Anderson and George Washington Carver. But even these are only the first fruits of a rich harvest, which will be reaped when new and wider fields are opened to us.
Which of the following is the best paraphrase of the above passage?
1. America is like a great farmland of amazing people doing amazing things. We have given our gifts to help this country grow and we will continue to harvest.
2. "As we have been extended a measure of democracy, we have brought to the nation rich gifts. We have helped to build America with our labor, strengthened it with our faith and enriched it with our song. We have given you Paul Lawrence Dunbar, Booker T. Washington, Marian Anderson and George Washington Carver. But even these are only the first fruits of a rich harvest, which will be reaped when new and wider fields are opened to us."
3. Democracy is great and we're glad to be part of it. We're glad to help America grow with our work, our religion, our songs, our authors, and our inventors.
4. Mary Mcleod Bethune says that when democracy applies to her people even a little bit, it's been great for the country. Their hard work, their religious faith, their songs make America stronger. Paul Lawrence Dunbar, Booker T. Washington, Marian Anderson, and George Washington Carver are all amazing parts of this country. But there will be even more greatness when they have more rights.

Salut/Hello
What is The Diary of Anne Frank?: It's the first, and sometimes only, exposure many people have to the history of the Holocaust.
1. How is this scene the happiest they have been since going into hiding?
In my opinion, this scene is the happiest they have been since going into hiding because the holocaust was very brutal because many individuals got executed and frightened throughout the Holocaust, and opening the gifts was a good way to temporarily forget about their problems.
2. Why does Margot not want to blow out the candles? Why does Mr. Frank say they need to?
Margot does not want to blow out the candles because they are supposed to be left to burn themselves out. Mr. Frank tells her God will understand that they need to conserve their candles.
3. Explain Peter’s prank on Mr. Dussel.
Peter was coming from his room as he was holding something in his coat which turned out to be a towel, but Mr. Dussel thought it was a cat. In the end, he was allergic to his clothes.
4. How does everyone react to Mr. Dussel’s cat allergy?
Some seem to laugh at Mr. Dussel's cat allergy, but Mr. Van Dans wants to throw out Peter's cat for always eating their food. Peter said if Mr. Van Daans throws out the cat he will go out with it, but it didn't happen.
5. What happens that makes the mood change?
Something crashes below and they all freeze in horror. Peter tries to reach the lamp, but he can't so he gets up on a chair to try again but he ends up losing his balance and falling and then more steps can be heard below.
6. How was this scene the most scared they have been since going into hiding?
Because they thought it was the Green Police or the Gestapo that have discovered their hiding place and had come to get them.
7. Describe juxtaposition and explain how this scene is an example of juxtaposition.
A writer can make readers sense of “goodness” in a particular character by placing him or her side-by-side with a character that is predominantly “evil.” In my opinion, this scene is an example of juxtaposition when Peter and Mr. Van Dans had an argument about the cat, making Peter seem like a positive character while making Mr. Van Dans look like a negative character.
8. Describe how each person reacts in the situation when they are scared.
Mrs. Van Dans was panicking and saying to give the Green Police money
Anne was more concerned for her father because he went to check what happened below while her mother was trying to calmly put her in a state of relief. At some point, Anne asked who is going to look for Mr. Frank and Peter offered to show that he wasn't scared of any danger but Mr. Dussel pushed Peter away in an angry tone. Mr. Van Dans was as well calm and seemed to be more focused on what could happen next.
( I hope I did get every one right )
9. List the gifts that Anne gave to each person for Hanukkah. Then show how these gifts represent Anne maturing by saying what the thought or meaning behind each gift is.
1. Margot Frank: A crossword puzzle book / She never loses her temper.
2. Mrs. Van Dans: Hair shampoo / Mrs. Van Dans likes her hair (It doesn't seem to say in this scene, so I don't exactly know)
3. Mr. Van Dans: 2 cigarettes / Mr. Van Dans enjoys smoking (same as above)
4. Mrs. Frank: Ten hours of Anne doing what she says / Anne didn't get the time to repay her (that's what it made me believe)
5. Mr. Frank: A scarf / He found it in the first scene
6. Mushi: A ball of paper with a string attached to it / For the cat to play with and stay entertained.
7. Peter: a safety razor / Peter was growing a mustache.
8. Mr. Dussel: earplugs / So he won't hear Anne making noise at night
Anne is maturing way faster because of the problems of what happens outside of their hiding as well. Every meaning of the gifts shows that Anne can see every little detail about people which not many kids can do.
I am sorry if I'm late, I had to do some research and listen to the audiobook of the specific scene.
I hope it was helpful! :]

Choose a symbol from Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry and explain how its meaning changes.
Answer:
One symbol from Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is the symbol of the "lynched man." This symbol represents the violence and injustice faced by African Americans during the time period of the novel, specifically in the form of lynchings. At first, the lynched man symbolizes fear and oppression for the characters in the novel, as they witness the hanging of a black man and understand the danger that they are all at risk of facing. However, as the novel progresses and the characters become more aware of their own strength and resilience, the lynched man symbol also becomes a symbol of resistance and defiance. The characters, particularly Cassie and her family, begin to actively fight against the injustices they face, and the lynched man becomes a symbol of their determination to stand up for their rights and dignity. In this way, the meaning of the lynched man symbol shifts from one of fear and oppression to one of strength and empowerment.
