Bethia's essay about suburbs starts off with this passage.
Some people love the city, and some people love small towns. For others, nothing will do but a piece of land far out in the country. But in my opinion,
the suburb is underrated as a great place to live.
Which could Bethia use as a supporting point for her main argument?
Suburbs combine the best of both city and country living.
Trains allow workers to live in the suburbs but work in the city.
A well-designed suburb includes bicycle paths and footpaths.
Many cities are surrounded by independent, self-governing suburbs.
Answer:
Option A, Suburbs combine the best of both city and country living
Explanation:
Bethia will support her statement with argument given in option B.
The argument in option A i.e Suburbs combine the best of both city and country living will best support her consent of proving that suburbs are underrated.
Suburb areas are mostly lying at the periphery of major cities at a commutable distance. These suburbs are well connected with transport services. These are cheaper than the main cities and provide a good balance of services of residential and commercial zones.

Which of these represents an example of simple harmonic motion? (i) a bouncing ball (ii)a marble rolling back and forth in a concave bowl (iii)a tree branch vibrating up and down (iv) someone walking back and forth across a room, dozens of times All of them (ii) and (iii) (i) and (iv) (i) and (iii)
The simple harmonic motion represent in (ii) and (iii), a marble rolling back and forth in a concave bowl and a tree branch vibrating up and down. Thus, option B is correct.
Simple harmonic motion (SHM) is a type of periodic motion where the restoring force is directly proportional to the displacement. It can be seen in systems such as pendulums and springs.
In the case of a marble rolling back and forth in a concave bowl, the restoring force is gravity, which pulls the marble back to the center of the bowl. Similarly, in the case of a tree branch vibrating up and down, the restoring force is the tension in the branch, which pulls it back to its equilibrium position.
On the other hand, a bouncing ball and someone walking back and forth across a room do not exhibit simple harmonic motion, as the restoring force is not directly proportional to the displacement.

Why We Need a Recreational Center
With the onslaught of crimes committed by minors in our neighborhood, we desperately need a recreational center. When I was growing up, the rec. center was my favorite place to go. Saturday night bashes with food and live DJs. Ping-pong and billiard tournaments. Study sessions with friends after school. Movie and game nights. That’s what I did for fun, all in a safe and adult-monitored environment. My experience sharply contrasts with that of the youths I’ve been observing.
Every day after work, I drive through our neighborhood and see the same thing: teenagers loitering in front of yards, looking bored and up to no good. Five of my neighbors’ cars have been broken into in the past three months. Seven houses, including mine, have been toilet-papered and egged. And according to the police department, these numbers only increase during the summer. During the summer months of 2007 alone, there were 11 car burglaries and 13 criminal mischief and vandalism offenses in our neighborhood. Such statistics prove that we must provide something for these teenagers to do.
A recreational center would offer these kids an economical and safe place to socialize and have fun—even while studying. Upon the implementation of a community recreational center program in Winfield, Kansas, crimes committed by minors decreased by 70%. The same thing can happen here.
I have heard some people complain that we can find better ways to spend our tax dollars. If you can find something that has more personal, social, community benefits, I would like to hear about them. In a nationwide study conducted at Pennsylvania State University, researchers compiled a list of the benefits perceived by the American public. According to the study, users of recreational centers benefited from exercise, entertainment, education, relaxation, interaction with community members, and affordability. And you don’t even need to use the recreational center to experience its benefits. Researchers found that “71% of non-users said they received some benefit.” One participant stated, “I’m grateful for the recreational center because it keeps kids off the streets.”
For the future of our neighborhood and our children, let’s do what is necessary to clean up our youth. Let’s give them a recreational center.
Why could the author be perceived as biased against teenagers?
A.
The author's teenage children are often disobedient.
B.

( 2 points) If the state is only interested in raising revenue, explain which of the two items should be taxed. b. ( 2 points) If the state is interested in the tax falling more on the producer than the consumer, explain which item should be taxed.
When the US government institutes an effective quota to support strawberry farmers, the social surplus is likely to decrease. The quota reduces consumer surplus while increasing producer surplus, but the gains for producers do not fully compensate for the losses for consumers, leading to a decrease in the overall social surplus.
If the US government institutes an effective quota to support strawberry farmers, the social surplus is likely to decrease. A quota restricts the number of strawberries that can be imported, thereby reducing competition from foreign producers and protecting domestic farmers.
This results in a decrease in the overall supply of strawberries available in the market, leading to higher prices for consumers. However, the higher prices benefit domestic strawberry farmers by increasing their revenues and profitability.
The social surplus represents the total welfare or benefit derived from the consumption and production of goods. In this case, the quota reduces consumer surplus, which is the difference between the price consumers are willing to pay and the actual market price.
As prices increase due to the quota, consumer surplus decreases. At the same time, producer surplus, which is the difference between the market price and the cost of production for farmers, increases.
Therefore, the social surplus is likely to decrease as the gains in producer surplus do not fully compensate for the losses in consumer surplus. Additionally, there may be deadweight losses due to the inefficient allocation of resources resulting from the quota. Overall, while the quota benefits domestic strawberry farmers, it leads to a decrease in the social surplus.
a. The price elasticity of sunglasses is -1.35. When the price of sunglasses increases, total revenue will fall. This is because the price elasticity of demand for sunglasses is elastic (absolute value greater than
1). Elastic demand means that a change in price has a proportionally larger impact on the quantity demanded. As the price increases, the quantity demanded will decrease by a relatively larger percentage, causing a decline in total revenue.
b. To calculate the effect on the quantity demanded of sunglasses due to a 3% price cut, we can use the price elasticity formula:
% Change in quantity demanded = Price elasticity of demand × % Change in price
Given that the price elasticity of sunglasses is -1.35 and the price cut is 3%, we can calculate:
% Change in quantity demanded = -1.35 × (-3%) = 4.05%
Therefore, a 3% price cut in sunglasses would lead to an approximately 4.05% increase in the quantity demanded.
a. The cross-price elasticity between radial tires and cars is -2.50. According to this, radial tires and cars are substitutes. Substitutes are products that can be used in place of each other, and a negative cross-price elasticity indicates a substitution relationship.
When the price of one product (cars) increases, the quantity demanded of the other product (radial tires) increases, suggesting that people are more likely to buy radial tires as an alternative to purchasing more expensive cars.
b. If the price of cars increases by 8%, we can calculate the effect on the quantity demanded of radial tires using the cross-price elasticity formula:
% Change in quantity demanded of radial tires = Cross-price elasticity × % Change in price of cars
% Change in quantity demanded of radial tires = -2.50 × 8% = -20%
Therefore, an 8% increase in the price of cars would lead to a 20% decrease in the quantity demanded of radial tires.
c. In part b, when the quantity demanded of radial tires decreases by 20% due to the increase in car prices, the revenue from radial tire sales will also decrease. The change in revenue can be calculated by multiplying the percentage change in quantity demanded by the percentage change in price.
In this case, as the quantity demanded decreases by 20% and the price remains unchanged, the revenue from radial tire sales would decrease by 20%.
