why do you suppose the author uses a flashback to reveal details about Farquhar how does this impact the story

Answers

In this flashback, he speaks with a soldier whom he believes to be a Confederate but whom the reader understands to be a "Federal scout" about the Owl Creek Bridge. This shift in viewpoint gives the viewer understanding of the story's events and Farquhar's character prior to the hanging.

Why was flashback used in An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge?

The author of this narrative used awareness and flashbacks to further envelop and acquaint the reader with the story. Along with several other literary strategies, the author of this narrative employs symbolism, foreshadowing, and many more to place the reader in Farquhar's head.

In these "flashbacks," Peyton's lifestyle before being busted for tampering with the bridge is described. (Teen Ink 1). While the tale is in flashback, Peyton had memories of his wife and kids after he knocked himself out.

The tension would have been lost if the facts in the tale had been revealed in chronological order. The events that occur would be specific to Farquhar if it had started with his introduction in section 2, which would also concentrate the narrative on his own character's views rather than those of the average person.

Some states in the South Option A. forbade the education of slaves. They believed that educated slaves would option B. threaten the power of slave owners.

During the antebellum period, many Southern states implemented strict laws and policies that explicitly prohibited the education of slaves. The rationale behind this prohibition stemmed from the fear that educated slaves would pose a threat to the power dynamics of the slaveholding society.

Slaveholders recognized the potential power and agency that education could grant to enslaved individuals. Educated slaves were more likely to question the institution of slavery, challenge their treatment, and seek freedom. Slaveholders, therefore, perceived educated slaves as a direct threat to their authority and control over the slave population.

Furthermore, slaveholders believed that educated slaves would serve as catalysts for rebellion or insurrection. The acquisition of knowledge and literacy could empower slaves to organize, communicate, and coordinate resistance efforts, posing a significant challenge to the stability of the slave system. Therefore, the correct answer options are A and B.

Give a trivia about the Third Republic in the Philippines!

Answers

Answer:

The Third Republic of the Philippines was inaugurated on July 4, 1946. It marked the culmination of the peaceful campaign for Philippine Independence—the two landmarks of which were the enactment of the Jones Law in 1916 (in which the U.S. Congress pledged independence for the Philippines once Filipinos have proven their capability for self-government) and the Philippine Independence Act of 1934 (popularly known as Tydings-McDuffie) which put in place a ten-year transition period during which the Philippines had Commonwealth status. The Third Republic also marked the recognition by the global community of nations, of the nationhood of the Philippines—a process that began when the Commonwealth of the Philippines joined the Anti-Axis Alliance known as the United Nations on June 14, 1942, receiving recognition as an Allied nation even before independence.

Thus, the inauguration of the Third Republic marked the fulfillment of the long struggle for independence that began with the Philippine Revolution on August 23, 1896 (recent scholarship suggests, on August 24) and which was formalized on June 12, 1898 with the Proclamation of Philippine Independence at Kawit, Cavite.

From 1946 to 1961, Independence Day was celebrated on July 4. On May 12, 1962, President Diosdado Macapagal issued Proclamation No. 28, s. 1962, which declared June 12 as Independence Day. In 1964, Congress passed Republic Act No. 4166, which formally designated June 12 of every year as the date on which we celebrate Philippine independence. July 4 in turn has been observed as Republic Day since then.

The Roxas Administration (May 28, 1946 – April 15, 1948)

President Manuel Roxas, in his first State of the Nation Address, detailed the challenges the country was facing in the aftermath of war: A government “without financial means to support even its basic functions,”[1] scarcity in commodities especially of food, hyperinflation, the “tragic destruction”[2] of a productive economy, and still-ongoing rehabilitation among the different sectors of society.

How did Americas attitudes toward slavery change?

Answers

Answer:

The attitudes of Americans towards slavery underwent significant changes over time. In the early years of the United States, slavery was a legal institution in many states and was widely accepted as a necessary part of the economy. However, over the course of the 19th century, the nation became increasingly divided over the issue of slavery, leading to the outbreak of the Civil War.

Here are some of the key developments and changes in attitudes towards slavery in America:

Early years: Slavery was legal in many of the original 13 colonies, and it was widely accepted as a necessary part of the agricultural economy. Slaves were considered property, and slave owners had the legal right to buy, sell, and trade them. There were some early critics of slavery, such as Benjamin Franklin, who argued against it on moral grounds.

The Abolitionist Movement: In the early 1800s, a growing number of people began to speak out against slavery. This movement, known as abolitionism, argued that slavery was a moral evil that needed to be abolished. Abolitionists included both white and black Americans, and they used a variety of tactics, including public speaking, writing, and even violence.

The Underground Railroad: As the abolitionist movement grew, so did efforts to help enslaved people escape to freedom. The Underground Railroad was a network of secret routes and safe houses that helped slaves escape to the North. Estimates vary, but it's believed that between 40,000 and 100,000 slaves escaped through the Underground Railroad between the late 18th century and the Civil War.

The Civil War: The issue of slavery was a major cause of the Civil War, which was fought from 1861 to 1865. The Confederacy, which seceded from the United States, was formed largely to preserve the institution of slavery. The Union, meanwhile, fought to preserve the United States and ultimately to abolish slavery.

Explanation:

Histroy

America's attitudes toward slavery changed from being accepted to being seen as an evil institution.

His change was due to a number of factors, including the Enlightenment, the American Revolution, and the Industrial Revolution.

The Enlightenment led to a new emphasis on individual rights and freedoms, which made slavery increasingly difficult to justify. The American Revolution was fought in the name of liberty and equality, which further challenged the institution of slavery.

And the Industrial Revolution led to a decline in the need for slave labor, as machines began to replace human workers.

As attitudes toward slavery changed, so too did the laws governing it. In 1777, Vermont became the first state to abolish slavery. Other northern states followed suit, and by 1804, slavery had been abolished in all of the northern states.

The southern states, however, remained committed to slavery, and the issue eventually led to the Civil War.

The Civil War ended slavery in the United States, but it did not end racism or discrimination.

However, it did mark a significant turning point in American history, and it helped to pave the way for the eventual passage of civil rights legislation in the 20th century.

What is an economic class?

Answers

That’s a simple question with a very complex answer that can’t be summed up in a sentence or two. Generally, I’ve found that when most people ask the question, their underlying purpose is to understand how “social class” relates to consumerism. We have 4 “social classes” and 3 of those (upper, middle and lower” are divided into 3 additional “sub classes” (upper-upper, middle upper, lower upper; upper middle, middle middle, lower middle: upper lower, middle lower, and lower lower) We then have the “working class”. A concept known as “VALS” (Values, Attitudes, Lifestyles) is used in marketing to identify and target buyers according to social class and it is amazingly accurate. Each “social class” has their own particular set of “values, attitudes, and lifestyles” which are normal for that class, but not so much for each of the other classes. For instance, when I was in college (early 1990s, NASCAR was considered a very “working class, or lower class” leisure time activity, as is say, bowling. Today, NASCAR has also become something that embraced by the middle classes as well, and even a few in the upper class. One thing that I’ve found that Americans HATE is the proper use of “middle class”. More than 1/2 of Americans who call themselves “middle class” are NOT. They’re “Working Class”. For one, the identification of “social class” is very much a tool used to define and describe the mindset and the economic abilities of the public. Those who earn a “middle class” income, but who work for an HOURLY WAGE…..ARE “Working class”…even though they may earn more than someone who is “middle class”. The difference being that of being the supervised, or the supervisor.

So, simply put….what determines ones “social class” is a combination of things which include, level of education, job, income, leisure time activities, and the products that you consume. Statistically, less that 2% of people ever move more than 1 slot away from the “social class” into which they were born.

What do you mean by Route?

Path-vector routing gets its name from the fact that a route is defined as a pairing between a destination and the properties of the path leading there. The routers are given a vector containing the paths leading to a number of destinations.

The Mediterranean Sea is an intercontinental body of water that divides Europe from Africa and spans from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to Asia in the east. It is frequently referred to as the birthplace of Western civilization. This historic "sea between the lands" is located in an irregular depression that is deep, long, and nearly landlocked. It is located between latitudes 30° and 46° N and longitudes 5°50′ W and 36° E. Its average north-south extent is between Croatia's southernmost coastlines and Libya, and its west-east extent is roughly 2,500 miles (4,000 km) from the Strait of Gibraltar between Spain and Morocco to the shores of the Gulf of Iskenderun on Turkey's southwest coast (800 km).

Explanation:

Model Parliament, parliament called by King Edward I of England in 1295 that is widely regarded as the first representative parliament. It included not only archbishops and bishops but also archdeacons and one proctor for each cathedral and two for each diocese, marking the first time the lower orders of clergy were represented. In addition, there were two knights from each shire, two citizens from each city, and two burgesses from each borough. Seven earls and 42 barons were also summoned.

The parliament was called, as was standard practice, because the king sought financial support for the wars that he was prosecuting in Scotland and in France. In summoning the parliament, Edward wrote,

Inasmuch as a most righteous law of the emperors ordains that what touches all should be approved by all, so it evidently appears that common dangers should be met by remedies agreed upon in common.

Each of the estates—clergy, nobles, and commons—met separately to consider the request. The clergy agreed to contribute a tenth of their income, and the barons and knights offered an eleventh of theirs, while the boroughs were willing to donate a seventh.

For the next several years, the pattern of those summoned for parliaments varied from assembly to assembly, depending on Edward’s decision, but eventually all parliaments came to be composed of the three estates, those from the commons being chosen by election. Although some earlier parliaments had similar compositions and subsequent parliaments did not all follow the precedent of the Model Parliament, historians regard that assembly as a turning point in the development of the English system of government.
