The belief that decisions are often more attributable to the biases and moods of decision makers than to the formal legal rules is commonly associated with legal realists.
Legal realists emphasize the role of judges and decision-makers in shaping the outcomes of legal cases, taking into account subjective factors such as personal beliefs, social context, and pragmatic considerations. They argue that legal rules and principles are not always determinative and that the interpretation and application of law is influenced by human factors. On the other hand, legal positivists emphasize the importance of formal legal rules and institutions in determining the outcomes of legal cases. They believe that law is a distinct system of rules created by human authorities and that it should be applied objectively and independently of personal biases or moods.

Read the following speech as if you were delivering it to a group of people.
John F. Kennedy
Inaugural Address
Friday, January 20, 1961 (excerpt)
In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility—I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it—and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.
My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.
Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own.
How would the tone used for this speech affect the crowd to whom it was read?
Answer:
Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice President Nixon, President Truman, Reverend Clergy, fellow citizens:
We observe today not a victory of party but a celebration of freedom--symbolizing an end as well as a beginning--signifying renewal as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three-quarters ago.
The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe--the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.
Answer: The tone used in this speech will create a high sense of responsibility in the crowd; it will stir, inspire and instil in them a new sense of patriotism.
Explanation:
J.F Kennedy's Speech which he gave in 1961 is still relevant today. The crowd to whom the speech was read to will bear in them a high sense of responsibility. Kennedy clearly stated: "...ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country..." This statement clearly reveals that he is calling all citizens to responsibility and patrotism. Then he ended it with "...God's work must truly be own." - The speech will stir the crowd up to become responsible and patriotic.
Writing workshop: research proposal: final draft
I’m super behind and I need something to turn in please
Hi can someone plss help me with this I’m really struggling right now and this is due tomorrow. Basically I have to write an essay on how Achilles demonstrates the key qualities (loyalty, strength, intelligence, bravery, and pride) of an epic hero in The Iliad. However right now I have to find 2 examples of each of the key qualities I mentioned and I couldn’t really find anything that makes sense because the information talked about another character from that book.
Strength (2 examples)
Bravery (2 examples)
Loyalty (2 examples)
Pride (2 examples)
Intelligence (2 examples)
Achilles, having been a famed and valiant soldier, was sought after and loved by all, except his adversary Agamemnon. He was a prominent warrior known for his great strength that actually caused the Acheans to win many battles. But what was it that caused Achilles to be such a hero? Consider the definition for the word, “hero.” A hero is “a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.” This gallant warrior is all three of these points in the definition, plus more. Achilles’ honorable attitude for his loved ones, bravery in times of adversity, and as the definition states, “outstanding achievements” make him a hero beyond recognition.
Living in a difficult age full of war and death,
Although Achilles was quite outraged at this, he gave a respectful response, stating that he would drop out of the war because Agamemnon had dishonored him. Later, the Trojans killed Patroclus, Achilles’ dearest and most trusted friend. Achilles was overcome with grief, but realized how stubborn and selfish he was being by dropping out of the war. He decided that he had to join the war once again to honor Patroclus. He told his mother, “Enough. Let bygones be bygones. Done is done. Despite my anguish I will beat it down, the fury mounting inside me, down by force. But now I’ll go and meet that murderer head-on, that Hector who destroyed the dearest life I know.” It is clear that he knew that in those ancient times, a real hero avenged the death of a dear friend, and would sacrifice his own life to save the dead body and give it a proper burial.
The fact that Achilles had bravery in times of adversity shows that he should be given glory as a hero. In spite of the fact that Patroclus had died, and it was immensely hard for him to accept the loss of his friend, Achilles decided that Patroclus would have wanted him to be courageous. Achilles rejoined the war, resolved to kill those that had killed his beloved friend. He was not afraid of dying or being badly wounded, but he wanted to make up for his impulsive absence in the war.
Achilles had many great accomplishments in the war, proving he showed his venture for arete1. One must not forget how important glory

Sentence "They are all biased" applies to all persuasive messages. So the option B is correct.
Attempts to sway a person's or a group's views, attitudes, and opinions often go into persuasive communications. As a result, they frequently rely on emotional appeals or logical arguments that could be founded on faulty data or skewed viewpoints.
In this sense, the adage "They are all biased" is applicable to all persuasive arguments since bias exists in all arguments, independent of the specific points being made. This bias may be deliberate or inadvertent, but it is a part of persuasive communication by definition. So the option B is correct.

The reason for this envy is not stated, but it can be assumed that the love shared between the two was pure and special. The poem suggests that Annabel Lee was taken away from the speaker, possibly by death, which adds a sense of tragedy to the poem.

it could never be more truly said than of the first remedy, that it was worse than the disease. liberty is to faction what air is to fire, an aliment without which it instantly expires. but it could not be less folly to abolish liberty, which is essential to political life, because it nourishes faction, than it would be to wish the annihilation of air, which is essential to animal life, because it imparts to fire its destructive agency.
These lines are from Federalist Papers No. 10. Here it is explained clearly how liberty to a certain group of people or faction could be disastrous and a government should and will not be dominated by any group of people.
A specific group of people is known as a faction. To eliminate any faction, removal of liberty is used first, later on, the people of that faction are influenced by similar passions, thinking, etc.
However, these methods are unwise and can not practically be used. When individuals are given the freedom they form opinions and these differ from one another.
