The decision-making process that involves making a decision on the basis of certain features that are similar to a stereotyped model is called ______.a. compensatory decision modelingb. the representativeness bias/ heuristicc. the availability heuristicd. hill-climbing

Answers

Answer 1

The decision-making process that involves making a decision on the basis of certain features that are similar to a stereotyped model is called the representativeness bias. The representativeness heuristic is a mental shortcut that people use when making decisions or judgments.

It involves categorizing events or objects based on how similar they are to existing stereotypes or prototypes. When people rely on the representativeness heuristic, they tend to overlook other relevant information and focus on the superficial similarities between the current situation and the stereotyped model.

This can lead to errors in judgment and decision-making because the true likelihood of an event or the accuracy of a decision is not based solely on its similarity to a stereotype. The decision-making process using the representativeness heuristic typically involves the following steps:

1. Identify a situation or object that needs to be evaluated or a decision that needs to be made.

2. Compare the features of the situation or object to a known stereotype or prototype.

3. Evaluate the similarities and differences between the current situation or object and the stereotype.

4. Make a decision or judgment based on the perceived similarity to the stereotype, often ignoring other relevant information.

While the representativeness heuristic can sometimes lead to accurate decisions, it can also result in biases and errors due to the overemphasis on superficial similarities and the neglect of other important factors. It's important to be aware of these potential pitfalls and strive to use a more balanced decision-making process when possible.

What principle of the Declaration of Independence was supported in the Supreme Court's decision in Brown v. Board of

Answers

The principle of the Declaration of Independence that was supported in the Supreme Court's decision in Brown v. Board of Education was the right to fair and equal treatment. D.

In the landmark case of Brown v.

Board of Education (1954), the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that racial segregation in public schools was unconstitutional.

The Court held that the "separate but equal" doctrine had been established in the Plessy v.

Ferguson case (1896), was inherently unequal when applied to public education.

The decision was based on the principle that all individuals, regardless of their race or color, have the right to fair and equal treatment under the law.

The Court's decision in Brown v. Board of Education struck down the notion that segregation based on race could ever be considered equal.

It recognized that separate educational facilities inherently stigmatized and disadvantaged African American students, thereby violating their rights to equal protection under the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The Court emphasized that education is a fundamental aspect of personal development and participation in society and denying African American students access to the same quality education as their white counterparts undermined their opportunities for success and advancement.

By declaring racial segregation in public schools unconstitutional, the Supreme Court reaffirmed the principle of fair and equal treatment enshrined in the Declaration of Independence.

The decision marked a significant milestone in the civil rights movement and paved the way for desegregation efforts in other areas of society.

It underscored the importance of equal educational opportunities for all citizens and challenged the systemic discrimination that had persisted for decades.

intrinsic meaning is the reason for doing something is the satisfaction gained from doing it. question 2 options: true false

Answers

It is TRUE that intrinsic meaning is the reason for doing something is the satisfaction gained from doing it.

A glycoprotein known as intrinsic factor (IF) is created by the parietal cells in the stomach of humans or the main cells in the stomach of rodents. It is essential for the subsequent absorption of vitamin B12 in the small intestine's distal ileum. The CBLIF gene in humans encodes the stomach intrinsic factor protein. Another salivary gland-secreted glycoprotein called haptocorrin (transcobalamin I) binds to vitamin B12 and is another type of transcobalamin. Due to its acid sensitivity, vitamin B12 can safely pass through the stomach's acid via attaching to haptocorrin.

The stomach secretes the intrinsic factor, which is found in both the gastric mucous membrane and gastric juice. The ideal pH for its activity is roughly 7. Its concentration is unrelated to how much HCl or pepsin is present in the gastric juice; for example, intrinsic factor may be present even when pepsin is mainly missing. In different species, the intrinsic factor forms at a distinct location.

What makes longitudinal studies challenging to replicate?

Longitudinal studies require significant resources, time, and cooperation from participants. They involve collecting data at multiple points over months or years which necessitates maintaining consistent research protocols, participant retention, and addressing potential confounding variables.

Moreover, the dynamic nature of individuals and social contexts makes it difficult to recreate the exact conditions and circumstances encountered in the original study. As a result, replicating longitudinal studies with the same level of precision and accuracy becomes a formidable task for researchers.

This is my essay. The story Uncle Marcos is about a girl named Clara and her uncle's relationship and of Uncle Marcos's adventures through his life. Together with his niece, Clara, believing in him every step of the way, he overcomes his failures and achieves his dreams. Clara hasn't seen her Uncle for 2 years but still remembers an ideal image of her Uncle Marcos. He was buried within the middle of the courtyard in a very long black coffin. Uncle Marcos would come to his sister's house for several months to enjoy time together with his nieces and nephews, but mostly Clara is who enjoyed the visits most. He went on voyages, plenty. After one of his voyages and no word, he was presumed dead. Though soon after the familys magical prayers, he miraculously came back to life. He eventually went on another voyage. Uncle Marcos had died there on the last voyage. He had passed because of an illness. Then the captain of the ship that he was aboard and had his body, was tempted to throw him overboard, but was prevented and his body was sent to his sister's house. The story To Fly is by Neil deGrasses Tyson. He's an American astrophysicist, planetary scientist, author, and science communicator. During this story that he wrote, he discusses the event of human flight, from myths to airplanes. Then even to space travel! Within the first paragraph he mentions myths including flying characters. For millennia the concept of having the ability to fly preoccupied human dreams and fantasies. Waddling around on Earths surface as majestic birds flew overhead, perhaps we developed a kind of wing-envy. One might even call it wing worship. You neednt look far. The US adopted a flying predator as an emblem of its strengththe Haliaeetus leucocephalus appears on the rear of the government note, the quarter, the Kennedy coin, the Susan B. Our most famous superhero, Superman, can fly, upon donning blue panty hose and a red cape. after you die, if you qualify, you may just become an angeland everybody knows that angels (at least those with wings) can fly. Then there's Peter Pan and his fairy sidekick Tinkerbell, the winged horse Pegasus, the wing-footed Mercury, and also the aerodynamically unlikely Cupid. Within the 5th paragraph, he discusses when the primary airplane was built. The Wright Brothers of Ohio are, of course, generally credited with being first on the wing, as North Carolinas automobile registration code slogan is quick to remind you. But this claim has to be further delineated. Wilbur and Orville were the primary to fly a heavier-than-air, engine-powered vehicle that carried a personality's beingOrville, during this caseand that didn't land at a lower elevation than its takeoff point. Previously, people had flown in balloon gondolas, in gliders, and had executed controlled descents from cliff sides, but none of those efforts would make a bird jealous. Actually, Wilbur and Orvilles first trip wouldn't have turned bird-heads either. At 10:35 AM standard time, on December 17, 1903, the primary of their four flights thereon historic day lasted 12 seconds, at a median ground speed of 6.8 miles per hour, against an air speed of 30 miles per hour. In paragraph 12, he talks about spaceflight. We didnt build an area station, but we visited the Moon. During this effort, human bird-worship continued. Never mind that on the Moon, where there's no air and where wings are completely useless, our astronauts landed in a very spacecraft named after a bird. A mere 65 years, 7 months, 3 days, 5 hours, and 43 minutes after Orville left the bottom, the spaceman gave his first statement from the Moons surface, Houston, Tranquillity Base here. The Eagle has landed. After reading these two stories, in my opinion, I believe the story To Fly by Neil deGrasse Tyson best described the dream/ fantasy of human flight. The story of Uncle Marcos doesnt really explain much about the dream/ fantasy of human flight. Its just a fictional story talking about an Uncle who just about seems to need attention from everyone. On the opposite hand, the story To Fly seems non-fictional. This story states facts, as listed above, in paragraph 3.
