If you flip two coins 36 times, what is the best prediction possible for the number of times both coins will land on heads?
Can you help me with how to solve this?

Answers

The best prediction possible for the number of times both coins will land on heads is 18.

When you flip two coins, there are four possible outcomes for each flip: HH (both heads), HT (one head and one tail), TH (one head and one tail), and TT (both tails).

If you flip two coins 36 times, you will have a total of 72 coin flips. Each flip is independent of the others, so the probability of getting both heads on any given flip is 1/4 (since there are four possible outcomes).

To find the expected number of times both coins will land on heads, you can multiply the probability of getting both heads on one flip (1/4) by the total number of flips (72):

Expected number of times both coins will land on heads = (1/4) x 72 = 18

Therefore, the best prediction possible for the number of times both coins will land on heads is 18. However, it's important to note that this is just a prediction based on probability and that the actual number of times both coins land on heads may be different.

Story of Akbar’s court- shamsheer and Raghav - both claimed each other’s master- shamsheer went Afghanistan- left property to Raghav to look after - Raghav refuse to return it on Raghav’s return

Answers

The majority of us were exposed to the well-known tales of the great King Akbar and Birbal, a courtesan who was renowned for his wit and brilliance.

Story of Shamsher and Raghav

Shamsher and Raghav arrived at Akbar's court one day with a problem. Each of the two men claimed to be the owner, while the other claimed to be the servant, but there was no way to prove it. Shamsher stated that he had gone to Afghanistan to make money and had left his wealth and property in the care of his servant Raghav. When Shamsher returned, Raghav, however, refused to hand over his belongings to him. Raghav, on the other hand, insisted that he was the rightful owner of the property and that Shamsher was lying to get rich quick.Birbal simply smiled and claimed to be able to read people's minds. He asked both men to lie down with their backs to the floor. Then Birbal directed a soldier to use his sword to sever the servant's head. The soldier was perplexed, but he obeyed the order and removed the sword from its cover. When Raghav, the servant, heard the noise, he got up and ran to the king, pleading for forgiveness. Akbar was very pleased with Birbal and lavishly rewarded him. The difficult case had been easily resolved.

Nights and Dragons
—from the memoir of author Abigail Prynne
1
I sit at my desk listening to thunder growl outside my window. Flashes of light burst through the darkness, and wind races past my window. The thrilling combination of sight and sound conjures up visions of dragons roaring proudly, breathing fire, and soaring across the midnight sky. Dragons first fascinated me when I was a little girl. They have followed me ever since. The magnificent creatures appeared in storybooks I read in the library, paintings I saw in museums, movies I watched in the theater, and the dreams I had in my sleep. By the time I was thirteen, one question consumed me. Determined to discover if dragons could have actually existed, I set out on a quest for facts.

2
As I started my research, I discovered many skeptics. Scientists presented evidence to show why dragons could not – and did not – exist. They explained that it would be impossible for dragons to fly because they were too big. They laughed at the idea of dragons breathing fire. They pointed out that no other animal has ever done this. They said that if dragons had lived, someone would have found remains somewhere in the world. No bones about it, there were plenty of logical explanations. It would have been easy for me to accept that the only place dragons ever existed was in the imaginations of those who believed.

3
I could have given up, but I thought about my grandmother. She always told me that "people who believe that science is the answer to everything are missing out on everything else." With her words in mind, I read more about dragons. I noticed that cultures across the world all described dragons in similar ways. This was odd because they had no way to communicate with each other. I found notes about dragons in old legal papers and in the travel logs of people like Marco Polo. Dragons were also mentioned in the Bible. I saw that the Chinese calendar uses a different animal each year. Dragons are included along with eleven real animals. I began to believe it was a real possibility that all of these people were talking about a creature that actually existed.

4
With renewed hope that there was some truth to the legends, I looked for new research. I found that some experts disagreed with popular arguments against dragons. They suggested that a dragon could have four stomachs like a cow. If it created stomach gases like birds, it might create enough to lift itself off the ground. This would give it the ability to fly. If it forced out air when diving toward the earth, it might release gases which could ignite into flame. When the animal died, the stomachs would release strong acids that would dissolve its dead body over time. Biologists backed up these ideas with sketches and models based on known animals. Not everyone agreed with these ideas, but many of the things we accept about dinosaurs and other extinct species started the same way.

5
I doubt we will ever truly know whether dragons existed. There may always be two sides to the fiery debate. Some will say the stories come from active imaginations. Some will believe with all their hearts that the legendary creatures roamed our ancient world. I don't know for certain which side to believe, but the sound and fury of a night like this makes me smile. It rekindles my childhood dreams and keeps the exciting possibility alive.

Abigail Prynne's Nights and Dragons is about a teenage girl who has always been fascinated by dragons. She decides to go out one day and investigate their existence to see if they are real or a myth. Why would some people describe Carl Sandburg as a "regional" poet?
He never left his home state during his lifetime.
He wanted to celebrate America as a whole in all of his works.
He wrote mostly about the Midwest and its people.
He only dedicated part of his career to poetry.

Answers

Answer:

He wrote mostly about the Midwest and its people.

Explanation:

Regionalism is when a writer wrote mostly about a certain geographical region, about the landscape, culture, and any features of a particular region. This means that the writer focuses on writing about that particular region and localized presentation.

Carl Sandburg can be described as a regional poet because his works mostly concern the Midwest area. His major works include "The Chicago Race Riots (1919), Poems of the Midwest (1946), Chicago Poems (1916), and Cornhuskers (1918)", among others. His pattern of focusing on the people and culture of the Midwest made him a regional poet.

What must a reader do when summarizing a text?

Choose three answers

use objective language
O include all of the supporting details
O include the central ideas
O use subjective language
O include the most important details

Answers

To summarize a text effectively, a reader should focus on including the central ideas, and the most important details, and using objective language.

When summarizing a text, a reader must consider several factors to effectively condense the content. Three key aspects to focus on are:

Include the central ideas: A reader should identify and include the main concepts or arguments presented in the text. These central ideas capture the essence of the original work and provide a foundation for the summary.

Include the most important details: A successful summary should highlight the crucial points that support the central ideas. This involves selecting the key supporting details, examples, evidence, or significant events that contribute to the overall understanding of the text.

Use objective language: When summarizing a text, it is important to maintain an objective tone. The reader should strive for impartiality and avoid personal opinions or biases. Objective language ensures that the summary remains focused on accurately representing the original content without adding subjective interpretations.

Then, share your feelings regarding writing coming into the class.
Second Paragraph: Now, we are going to practice some narrative and descriptive writing. Write descriptively, using the five senses, about one place that has influenced you in a positive way. You should use descriptions and details to paint a clear picture of this place.

Answers

Answer:

Hello, everyone. My name is (your name ) and I am excited to be in this class. I have taken two classes before this one and I have learned some valuable time management skills that I hope to apply to this course. One of the skills I learned is to set SMART goals for each assignment: specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. This helps me to break down the tasks into manageable steps and track my progress. Another skill I learned is to use a calendar and a planner to schedule my study time and prioritize my assignments. This helps me to avoid procrastination and stay on top of deadlines. I also learned to balance my workload with some self-care activities, such as exercise, meditation, and hobbies. This helps me to reduce stress and stay motivated. As for writing, I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I enjoy expressing my thoughts and opinions in writing and I think it is a useful skill for many situations. On the other hand, I sometimes struggle with grammar, punctuation, and organization and I worry about making mistakes or not meeting the expectations of the instructor or the audience. I hope that this class will help me to improve my writing skills and confidence. One place that has influenced me in a positive way is the library. Ever since I was a child, I loved going to the library and browsing through the shelves of books. The library was a place where I could escape from reality and immerse myself in different worlds and stories. I could smell the musty scent of old books and hear the soft whispers of other readers. I could touch the smooth covers and feel the weight of the pages. I could see the colorful illustrations and the neat rows of letters. I could taste the excitement and curiosity of learning something new or discovering a new perspective. The library was a place where I could expand my imagination and knowledge and develop my love for reading and writing. The library was a place where I felt happy and inspired.

Final answer:

This question is about time management skills and descriptive writing.

Explanation:

In this assignment, you are asked to introduce yourself to the class and discuss how you plan to use your time management skills to complete your written assignments. Additionally, you are asked to write descriptively about a place that has influenced you in a positive way. Using the five senses, you should paint a clear picture of this place.

Time Management Skills

To complete your written assignments, efficient time management skills will be crucial. You can start by creating a schedule or a to-do list, prioritizing your tasks, and allocating specific blocks of time for each task. Breaking down the assignments into smaller, manageable tasks can help you stay organized and focused.

Writing Skills

When it comes to writing, it's important to have a positive attitude and approach. Embrace the opportunity to improve your writing skills and express your thoughts creatively. To enhance your writing, you can read examples of well-written pieces, practice regularly, and seek feedback from your peers or instructors.

Descriptive Writing

For the descriptive writing exercise, think about a place that holds special meaning for you. It could be a childhood home, a park, a beach, or any other location that has influenced you in a positive way. Use your five senses to describe the sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures associated with this place.
