My Papa's Waltz
The whiskey on your breath
could make a small boy dizzy,
But I hung on like death
Such waltzing was not easy.
We romped until the pans
slid from the kitchen shelf,
My mother's countenance
could not unfrown itself.
The hand that held my wrist
was battered on one knuckle;
At every step you missed
My right ear scraped a huckle,
You beat on my head
with a palm caked hard by dirt,
Then waltzed me off the bed
Still clinging to your shirt.

1. What feelings, thoughts or pictures come to mind as you read the poem?
2. After reading the poem, what stands out most in your mind?
3. Was there anything in the poem that bothered you or surprised you?
4.Does the poem remind you of anything that has ever happened to you or to someone you know or something you read/heard about?
5. Would you call these responses( 1-4 above) ‘aesthetic’ or ‘ efferent’?
Answer:
This poem incites feelings of anxiety, while I see a tattered father dancing with his boy. You can see that the boy is scared of his disheveled dr/nken father. While the dance is more symbolic of their father-son relationship, this poem does not forget to add the imagery of their messy surroundings. The thing that bothered me about this poem was the subtle hint that there may or may not have been ab/se involved. This poem reminds me of a story I once heard as a young child, that of a child who lived in a home where domestic violence was normal. He had walked in on his father hurting his mother, and the father put him back to sleep. It was an every day occurrence in that home, the boy feared his father, yet he held admiration, and respect just as the boy in this poem.I would call these lines aesthetic, however, I think that when Theodore Roethke wrote this piece, it took a lot more than beauty to put down onto paper. I think it was deeper than a bystander point of view. The courage it takes to write something so poetic, yet so angry, and to be able to control the ending, it's magnificent. What type of chart was used to compare three or more different mediums, such as the case for Roosevelt's first inaugural address?

The adjective "complete" can be changed into a noun by adding the suffix "-ness." Therefore, the noun form of "complete" would be "completeness."
The motion lines around Nelson's head in FRAME 4 indicate movement or action. They are used to depict the swift motion of Nelson turning his head in response to the grandmother's command. The lines help convey the dynamic nature of the scene and emphasize the urgency or suddenness of the action.

A frequent subject of a literary work is good vs.
Answer:
A frequent subject of a literary work is good vs evil.
Explanation:
Good and evil and their contradictions, confrontations and the implications that these concepts bring about people are a recurring theme in literature, in all its genres and styles.
For example, in fiction literature such as The Strange Case of Dr Jekill and Mr Hyde, where the character suffers a dual personality condition, with a normal existence and an evil and cynical hidden personality; or in the classic detective novels, with a good cop who wants justice, and an unscrupulous and bloody criminal.
Throughout the history of literature, this theme has been recurring. This is so because it implies human nature itself, where the duality of personalities and the implications of people's own actions necessarily imply a positive and negative assessment of events and situations.

Helmer: You have no idea what a true man's heart is like, Nora. There is something so indescribably sweet and satisfying, to a man, in the knowledge that he has forgiven his wife—forgiven her freely, and with all his heart. It seems as if that had made her, as it were, doubly his own; he has given her a new life, so to speak; and she has in a way become both wife and child to him. So you shall be for me after this, my little scared, helpless darling. Have no anxiety about anything, Nora; only be frank and open with me, and I will serve as will and conscience both to you—. What is this? Not gone to bed? Have you changed your things?

By my calculations, five of our 12 members have graduated and another two have switched schools. In addition, in a recent student survey, only 15 percent listed "writing" or "photography" as interests, which are our two greatest needs.
I do have a solution, though. I think that a representative from our club should go around to each of the junior high classrooms and do a short presentation on why students should join the newspaper. This way, students will have a more personal invitation — studies show that people are twice as likely to take part in something when they know someone involved or have been personally asked. Also, I happen to know that both the astronomy club and jazz band have had great success using this classroom-to-classroom approach. In fact, each group nearly doubled its membership by doing so.

Read the excerpt from Animal Farm.
That evening Squealer explained privately to the other animals that Napoleon had never in reality been opposed to the windmill. On the contrary, it was he who had advocated it in the beginning, and the plan which Snowball had drawn on the floor of the incubator shed had actually been stolen from among Napoleon's papers. The windmill was, in fact, Napoleon's own creation. Why, then, asked somebody, had he spoken so strongly against it? Here Squealer looked very sly. That, he said, was Comrade Napoleon's cunning. He had seemed to oppose the windmill, simply as a maneuver to get rid of Snowball, who was a dangerous character and a bad influence. Now that Snowball was out of the way, the plan could go forward without his interference. This, said Squealer, was something called tactics. He repeated a number of times, "Tactics, comrades, tactics!" skipping round and whisking his tail with a merry laugh. The animals were not certain what the word meant, but Squealer spoke so persuasively, and the three dogs who happened to be with him growled so threateningly, that they accepted his explanation without further questions.
Squealer explains to the other animals that Napoleon was never opposed to the windmill. How does this conflict propel the plot forward?
The other animals realize that Squealer and Napoleon are friends.
The other animals realize that Napoleon can be trusted.
It changes the way the other animals feel about Napoleon.
It changes the way the other animals feel about the dogs.

What is the Conflict?Conflicts refer to situations when two individuals involved in a conversation share differences of opinions which causes disagreement between them and creates arguments in order to prove them stronger conflicts raises.
Squealer defends Napoleon's power using political messages. After Squealer's remarks, Napoleon will gain strength. The other animals are to be persuaded that Napoleon is truly loyal and that Snowball is not a faithful animal.
