Irony is a literary device can be a discrepancy between what a young, naive narrator like frankie understands and what the more worldly reader knows.
Understanding irony
irony is the name of a figure of speech. In literary works, sentences using irony are often used to enrich the repertoire of the literary style. Of course, this figure of speech is different from other figures of speech, namely in terms of word choice and conveying meaning when applied in sentences. This is an important factor to know so that we can apply this figure of speech appropriately.
Irony comes from the Greek word "eironeia" which means "ignorance". In the form of figure of speech, irony is a figure of speech that expresses a contradictory meaning. It is intended to provide satire. Figure of irony does this by stating the opposite of what is actually meant. In other words, irony is concealing and cover-up. Irony is the use of different words and what is written or said. Irony can be said to be the practice of pretense because it hides its true meaning. The intended meaning is the opposite of what is said. Irony can be subtle but can also convey a crude meaning. The irony figure of speech is classified as a counterfeit figure of speech or satire figure of speech.

Please write a review of the summary and reflection below:
SUMMARY
The article discusses the way in which scientist are beginning to reexamine the link between gene mutations and inheritable disease. The article cites a study that found that humans have an average of over 50 gene mutations, but most are not harmful. The article discusses a specific genetic variant that was linked to kidney failure until a doctor, who had a patient with this mutation and kidney issues, discovered that he had previously come across several people in a study that had the same genetic variance but did not present with kidney issues. This has caused researchers to question their previous methods for linking genetic variations and diseases and caused many to call for more research and the development of new methods of identifying and linking these variations in human genome and resulting medical issues.
REFLECTION
This article is interesting and a little scary. When we go to the doctor, we all just assume that the science is infallible, and the doctors know what they are doing. Stories like this remind us just how much we have yet to understand about the human body. With 20,000-25,000 genes, its surprising that scientist could even sequence DNA, let alone find specific variants. Collecting more information on the human genome will give scientist valuable insight into hereditary diseases but concluding inaccurate findings could prove disastrous. It would be interesting if this research could tell us the exact roll that different environmental conditions play in human development and the prevalence of different issues as well. By understanding and controlling for genetic variants, the long-term effects that environment has on humans’ health and behavior should become clearer. The most terrifying idea that I can’t help but think about is that of CRISPR. As we go though this chapter and especially reading this article, I can’t help but think how close it feels to becoming a reality. Hopefully if scientists are able to locate specific abnormalities and link them to diseases or disorders, they will be able to effectively use gene editing to dramatically raise the rate of healthy births.
The summary provides a clear and concise overview of the article, highlighting the key points about the reexamination of the link between gene mutations and inheritable diseases. The author also provides a thoughtful reflection on the implications of the research, considering both the potential benefits and risks of genetic research and gene-editing technologies. The reflection raises important questions about the limitations of current scientific understanding and the potential for future advances in genetics research to improve human health. Overall, the summary and reflection provide a balanced and insightful analysis of the article.

Answer:
An example of isolation portrayed by Kafka in "Metamorphosis" can be seen when Gregor's mother, seeing him metamorphosed, runs and screams around the house.
Explanation:
"Metamorphosis" is a book written by Kafka, which features Gregor Sansa, a man who woke up transformed into a giant insect. In this story, Kafka deals with many themes, such as dissatisfaction, loneliness, capitalist exploitation, loss of humanity and isolation. The isolation, specifically, can be seen as Gregor's mother sees her son turned into an insect and runs out of the room screaming. As mothers are extremely protective and caring figures, the sight of Gregor's mother running away from his presence represents that he is alone and isolated from the family. He will not be able to count on his mother's support and providence and will have to deal with the problem alone, isolated and lonely.

I 7. Which of the following sentences is correct?
in the book the giver, Why does Jonas refrain from praising Benjamin’s accomplishments, despite his admiration? Cite evidence from the text to support your response. chapter 1-5
Jonas does not praise Benjamin lest he stands out and draws attention to himself.
Why couldn't Benjamin stand out?Because that would make you different from other people.Because that would allow for social disharmony."The Giver" presents a highly controlled society with very strict concepts of equality and harmony.
While this seems like a fruitful thing, the book shows that it is very cumbersome, limits people's freedom, and even combats their abilities and talents.
An example of this can be seen when Jonah refuses to praise Benjamin, even though he proves to be very skilled and intelligent. Jonas recognizes Benjamin's potential, but praising him would break equality between people as it would make Benjamin stand out.
With this, social harmony would be corrupted and population control would also be harmed, which could cause a popular revolt and even the destruction of the government system that oppressed that community to obtain privileges.

Answer:
Online learning is giving people new choices and newfound flexibility with their personal learning and development. Whereas before, formal academic qualifications could only be gained by participating in a full time course on site, the internet has allowed institutions to expand their reach and offer recognized courses on a contact-partial, or totally virtual, basis.
There is another argument that is very difficult to dispel, and that is the response of different types of students to the online learning paradigm. Evidence shows that there are certain groups of students that benefit from college distance learning much more than other groups. In essence, students must be highly motivated and highly disciplined if they are to learn effectively in their own private environment.

O Why does Adichie use ethos rather than pathos?
The best question for Manuel to ask about ethos in relation to Adichie's passage would be doing the ethos connect with the audience. Here option B is the correct answer.
Ethos is one of the three rhetorical appeals, along with pathos and logos. It deals with establishing the credibility, trustworthiness, and authority of the speaker or writer. In this case, Manuel would be examining how Adichie's use of ethos connects with the audience.
In the given excerpt, Adichie indirectly appeals to ethos by referring to the Palestinian poet Mourid Barghouti's perspective. By incorporating the perspective of another writer, Adichie enhances her own credibility and authority on the topic of storytelling and power.
She is not just presenting her own views but also drawing on the insights of someone else, which adds depth and complexity to her argument.
By asking whether the ethos connects with the audience, Manuel is essentially questioning whether Adichie's choice to include the voice of another writer resonates with the readers or listeners. Does it enhance their trust in Adichie as a knowledgeable and reliable speaker?
Does it make her message more relatable and relevant to their own experiences? These are important considerations in evaluating the effectiveness of ethos in Adichie's passage and its impact on the audience. Therefore option B is the correct answer.

How many arrangements of the 26 letters of the alphabet in which:
(a) a occurs before b?
(b) a occurs before b and c occurs before d?
(c) the five vowels appear in alphabetical order?
(a) The total number of arrangements is 2 x 24! = 1,244,160,000.
(b) The total number of arrangements is 24 x 22! = 1,510,790,400.
(c) The total number of arrangements is 21! = 51,090,942,171,709,440,000.
(a) To find the number of arrangements where a occurs before b, we can fix the positions of a and b and then arrange the remaining 24 letters in any order. There are 2 ways to arrange a and b (ab or ba), and then 24! ways to arrange the remaining letters. So the total number of arrangements is 2 x 24! = 1,244,160,000.
(b) To find the number of arrangements where a occurs before b and c occurs before d, we can fix the positions of a, b, c, and d and then arrange the remaining 22 letters in any order. There are 4! = 24 ways to arrange a, b, c, and d in alphabetical order (abcd, acbd, cabd, and cdab), and then 22! ways to arrange the remaining letters. So the total number of arrangements is 24 x 22! = 1,510,790,400.

Texting has lengthy been bemoaned because the downfall of the written word, “penmanship for illiterates,” as one critic referred to as it.
To which the right reaction is LOL. Texting well isn’t writing at all — it’s certainly extra corresponding to spoken language. And it’s a “spoken” language this is getting richer and extra complicated via way of means of the year. Texting is growing its personal sort of grammar. Take LOL. It doesn’t certainly mean “giggling out loud” in a literal feel anymore. LOL has developed into some thing tons subtler and complicated and is used even if not anything is remotely amusing. Jocelyn texts “Where have you ever been?” and Annabelle texts back “LOL on the library reading for 2 hours.” LOL alerts primary empathy among texters, easing anxiety and developing a feel of equality. Instead of getting a literal meaning, it does some thing — conveying an attitude — similar to the -ed finishing conveys beyond nerve-racking instead than “meaning” anything. LOL, of all things, is grammar.
