From there, they enter circulation. Some proteins are absorbed unchanged. For example, antibodies present in breast milk or poliomyelitis vaccine are absorbed directly. Vitamins, minerals, and water are absorbed from the small intestine into blood capillaries. Fat-soluble vitamins are absorbed along with fatty acids and glycerol into the lacteals. Vitamin B2 is absorbed in the terminal ileum. Out of all the fluid entering the alimentary tract every day, only 1500 ml is not absorbed in the small intestine and passes into the large intestine.
