Answer:
Many empires rose and fell between 2300 B.C. & 334 B.C. This includes the Babylonian and Hittite Empires which were located near the Middle East. The Babylonian Empire was found particularly in between two rivers, the Euphrates and Tigris, but also stretched to include Present-day Palestine, Present-day & Ancient Israel, North-east of Egypt, and terminating at the ancient city of Ur. The Hittite Empire, on the other hand, included most of present-day Turkey down to present-day northern border of Israel. In comparing both of the empires, we can see that they were able to conquer areas of their surrounding.
However, there are extreme differences between the two empires. One can be savage, in that they continued to war and pillage other civilizations. The Hittite empire fell apart during the rise of the Assryian Kingdom, which effectively removed the "staff of power" from the Hittite's, as well as suppress Babylon.
The Babylonian Empire, on the other hand, rose after the fall of the Assryian Empire, and was able to conquer most of what the Hittite's had. They ruled Northern Egypt, present-day Israel and Palestine, up to what would later be known as Constantinople, and going down to the Persian Gulf. The Babylonians were conquerors, who defeated and assimilated the people groups into the empire, though displacing them to discourage rebellion. They were overthrown later on by the Persians at the end of their empire.
Babylon and the Hittite were similar only in that they became empires, but the differences are great. They both took different approaches in trying to conquer the lands. One tried suppression, while the other did assimilation (though they did have to suppress in numerous occasions). In the end, they both were empires, and they both fell.

The painting of town life showing commerce, or business, in action is a detail from a much larger painting called Effects of Good Government in the City and the Country, an allegory, or symbolic narrative, about what makes a society happy and healthy. Which details reinforce what you have learned about town life in the Middle Ages? What aspects of town life does the painting leave out?
Explanation:
The painting Effects of Good Government in the City and the Country shows a bustling town center, with people engaged in various commercial activities. There are merchants selling their goods, people exchanging money, and a general sense of activity and productivity. This reinforces what we have learned about town life in the Middle Ages, particularly in terms of the growth of commerce and trade during this time period.
However, the painting also leaves out many aspects of town life. For example, it does not show the living conditions of the majority of people, who may have lived in cramped and unsanitary conditions. It also does not show the struggles that many people faced in terms of poverty and disease. Furthermore, the painting does not depict the political and social hierarchies that existed in medieval towns, with wealthy merchants often exerting significant influence and power over the town's inhabitants. Overall, while the painting provides a glimpse into the vibrant commercial life of medieval towns, it does not give a comprehensive picture of the challenges and complexities of daily life during this time period.

Answer:
Import of products and resources is when a country brings a product or good in from another country. On the other hand, export is the opposite of import, meaning the selling of goods and products to another country. Exports and imports are essential for a country's economy to be stable and successful. For example, the country of Colombia might raise taxes on all the tuna being imported from Ecuador to encourage local fishermen and businesses to increase their tuna production. Another example is the United States banning the import of Russian oil, to reduce revenue to Russia and support Ukraine.

What was the intended purpose of federal legislation such as the 1947 Taft-Hartley Act? A. to increase the power of labor unions to negotiate for fair wages B. to allow labor unions to finance pro-worker political candidates C. to weaken existing labor laws that benefited unions D. to prevent labor unions from recruiting new members
The intended purpose of the 1947 Taft-Hartley Act was primarily C. to weaken existing labor laws that benefited unions.
This federal legislation was enacted in response to the perceived excesses of labor unions during the mid-1940s. The Act aimed to restore a balance of power between employers and unions by curbing some of the privileges that unions had gained under the National Labor Relations Act of 1935.
The Taft-Hartley Act introduced several restrictions on union activities and powers. For example, it prohibited unfair labor practices by unions, such as jurisdictional strikes, secondary boycotts, and "featherbedding" (forcing employers to hire more workers than needed). Additionally, the Act allowed states to pass "right-to-work" laws, which made union membership optional in workplaces where unions had negotiated contracts.
Furthermore, the Act required union leaders to sign affidavits stating they were not affiliated with the Communist Party, aiming to reduce the communist influence in labor unions. The Taft-Hartley Act also gave the President the authority to temporarily intervene in strikes that threatened national security or public health and safety by seeking an injunction to halt the strike for 80 days.
In summary, the Taft-Hartley Act aimed to weaken labor unions' power and influence by imposing restrictions on their activities and promoting a more balanced relationship between employers and labor unions. It did not focus on increasing the power of labor unions, financing pro-worker political candidates, or preventing labor unions from recruiting new members. Therefore, the correct option is C.

How does Article V solve the "river controversy" that started the war?
One of today's most contentious and politically significant waterways is now the Jordan River.
Since the Arabs first learned of Israel's long-term plans to divert Jordan River water to irrigate the Negev in the late 1950s, UN and Western officials involved in Middle Eastern affairs have anticipated the time when the first major stage of Israel's project would soon be completed with great dread because they anticipated that this would lead to yet another Middle Eastern crisis. By late 1963 and early 1964, Arab-Israeli tension over the water issue had been rising continuously and was at an alarmingly high level.
In the past, despite the fact that the main challenges were emotional and political in nature, even UN and Western officials had a tendency to oversimplify, ignore many aspects of this controversy, and foolishly try to deal with it on a technical and economic level.

3 paragraph journal about U.S foreign policy during the long 19th century
Answer:
Explanation:
During the long 19th century, U.S foreign policy was characterized by territorial expansion and a desire for economic growth. The Monroe Doctrine, established in 1823, declared that any attempt by European powers to colonize or interfere with states in the Americas would be viewed as a hostile act. This policy was aimed at protecting the newly independent Latin American states from European influence and solidifying U.S dominance in the region.
The U.S also pursued territorial expansion through military conquest and diplomacy. The Mexican-American War (1846-1848) resulted in the annexation of Texas and the cession of territory that would become California, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, and Oklahoma. The U.S also acquired Alaska from Russia in 1867 and Hawaii was annexed in 1898. These acquisitions were driven by a desire for resources, markets, and strategic military positioning.
In addition to territorial expansion, the U.S also pursued economic growth through trade agreements and intervention in Latin America. The Open Door Policy, established in 1899, called for equal trading rights for all nations in China and helped to secure U.S access to Chinese markets. The U.S also intervened militarily in several Latin American countries to protect American business interests and promote political stability. This policy became known as the Big Stick Policy and was exemplified by President Theodore Roosevelt's intervention in Panama to secure control of the Panama Canal Zone.
Overall, U.S foreign policy during the long 19th century was characterized by a desire for territorial expansion, economic growth, and political dominance in the Western Hemisphere.
