identify and describe at least two unique types of structures used in the tropical monsoon regions of Asia. Why are these types of structures used, and how do they benefit the people in the region?

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

The Monsoons in South and Southeast Asia are characterized by too much moisture and floods. People living in these regions have had to learn how to adapt to these floods which include the building of stilts which allows high flood waters to pass through the region without destroying villages.

Another type of structure built to adapt to monsoons are the floating buildings in villages near the Tonle Sap Lake. The structures were built to rise and float on the water as needed and helps in flood reduction.

John’s bank statement shows a closing balance for a given month as $2,200 and his personal account register shows a closing balance for the same month as $2,050.
John investigated his accounts to identify the following discrepancies:

Bank charges of $200 were charged.
There were checks of $200 that were not yet presented for payment.
Deposits not yet credited totaled $300.
$450 interest was credit to John’s account.
By how much is John’s bank reconciled?

John’s bank balance is reconciled at $_____.

Answers

Answer:

John’s bank balance is reconciled at $2250.

Here's how to calculate it:

Starting balance: $2,200

Add deposits not yet credited: + $300

Add interest credited: + $450

Subtract outstanding checks: - $200

Subtract bank charges: - $200

Adjusted bank balance: $2,500

Adjusted personal account register balance: $2,050

Difference: $2,500 - $2,050 = $450

Therefore, John’s bank balance is reconciled at $2,250 ($2,050 + $450).

Starting with the bank statement balance of $2,200, we consider the discrepancies:

Bank charges of $200 were charged: We subtract $200 from the bank statement balance.
Bank Statement Balance: $2,200 - $200 = $2,000

There were checks of $200 that were not yet presented for payment: These checks have not been deducted from the bank statement balance yet. So, we subtract the amount of the checks.
Bank Statement Balance: $2,000 - $200 = $1,800

Deposits not yet credited totaled $300: These deposits have not been added to the bank statement balance yet. Therefore, we add the total deposits.
Bank Statement Balance: $1,800 + $300 = $2,100

$450 interest was credited to John's account: This means that $450 was added to John's bank balance. We add this interest amount.
Bank Statement Balance: $2,100 + $450 = $2,550

Now, we compare the bank statement balance ($2,550) with the closing balance in John's personal account register ($2,050). To reconcile the balance, we subtract the personal account register balance from the bank statement balance.

Reconciled Bank Balance: $2,550 - $2,050 = $500

Answer:

bronze was used for multiple purposes

Explanation:

Mastery of bronze was an important advancement for the Shang militarily, but the combination of horse, chariot, and composite bow were also integral to its success. The chariot, a two-wheeled war cart pulled by horses, allowed Shang soldiers to move vast distances at great speeds and also acted as a mobile archery platform.

Chinese bronze casting and pottery advanced during the Shang dynasty, with bronze typically being used for ritually significant, rather than primarily utilitarian, items. As far back as c. 1500 BC, the early Shang dynasty engaged in large-scale production of bronze -ware vessels and weapons.

Explain how the relationship between Britain and the colonies changed after the French and Indian war

Answers

Answer:

The relationship between Britain and the colonies changed dramatically after the French and Indian War. The war had been very expensive for Britain, and the British government decided to try to recoup some of its costs by imposing taxes on the colonies. The colonists, who had never been taxed by Britain before, were outraged by these taxes. They saw them as a violation of their rights as British subjects.

The British government also made a number of other decisions after the war that angered the colonists. For example, the British government decided to station a large number of troops in the colonies. The colonists saw this as a threat to their liberty. They also resented the fact that they had no say in how these troops were being used.

The British government's attempts to assert its authority over the colonies led to a growing sense of resentment among the colonists. This resentment eventually boiled over into the American Revolution.

Explanation:

Answer: This war changed the relationship to the most and hold a grip among the people still, politically as well as economically

Explanation: The Britan and American relationship changed even though Great Britain got enormous territorial gains in the north american continents, but the disputes over the subsequent frontier remained the same.

The colonization discontent and untimely American revolution started, with changing industrial policies and payment of war expenses.

Do you think it is a good or bad idea for Quebec to become an independent nation? Explain. (Please use RACE when answering this question.)

Answers

Answer:

Yes, Quebec should be a country.

Canada is a federation, meaning that its citizens have to pay taxes for both the federal (canadian) government and the provincial (quebec) government. This split makes it harder for the people of Quebec to strategically invest in its own industries. For example, Quebec has long ago nationalized hydroelectricity making the state a leader in green energy. When Quebecers decided to do so, the canadian government refused to invest even a single dollar in the project. Quebec’s prime minister at that time had to go see the americans to ask for a sufficient loan. What a shame it was to the canadian government going against such a nice project! Fast forward to now, Nova Scotia government (another province located next to Quebec being part of the canadian confederation) has the project to built all the infrastructure to export hydroelectricity to the US… and guess what? Canadian Government is totally in favor of the idea and willing to fund the project with fresh capital, part of that capital coming from taxes paid by Quebecers. So Quebec taxes will help fund a competitor since Quebec is already exporting a lot of energy to their US partners while it had absolutely no help when they built their own hydroelectricity project.

This example is just one of the many examples that Quebecers have had to endure over the past decades. When the financial crisis happened in 08-09, Ontario’s auto industry have been bailed out for more than $10 Billion from the Canadian Government (again, part of this money - roughly 20% - came from Quebec’s taxes paid to the federal government). At that same time, Quebec was struggling with its paper/pulp industry and the federal government injected less than 100M$ in the industry to help it. Now Bombardier, one of the great engeneering business of Quebec is struggling, and guess what? Quebec has to inject all of the money to help them since canadian government won't do a single thing.

A lot of the people in Quebec stand against the building of pipelines that would allow dirty oil sands to cross the eastern part of the country for international exportation. Canadians want Quebec to accept the pipeline since it would help the western part of the country to export/sell its dirty oil internationally. As a province, Quebec doesn’t have any legal capacity to oppose to such project while this goes a lot against their willingness. If Quebec was a country, it could oppose to such thing and participate to a greater extend to a cleaner planet. Quebecers have all the capacity and knowledge to invest massively in clean energy and stop using oil for transport over a short timeframe. The only things that is keeping them away is the fact that it does not have control over all its revenues while the federal government have a totally different gameplan.

Being a country would allow Quebecers to gain 100% control over their taxes and would leave them with more money to do good things for the whole planet. We would be leaders in clean energy instead of subsidizing the dirty oilsands in the western part of the country. Our army would be one of peace keeping and territory protection and our peace keeping message would be heard amongst UN and UNESCO. We would be a much better leader amongst nations willing the reduce greenhouse gas instead of financing oil sands. Our engineering firms like Hydro-Quebec would be venturing project like electrification of transport.

Not only Quebec should be a country but people all around the world should support them in their quest for the building of a great new country.

Yes it should be a country

5. How does the desire for power and wealth connect to or conflict with the desire for morality?

Answers

Answer:

How could exploration of a new land bring power to a person? To a nation?

Explanation:

The motivation for exploring new land was the lack of resources in one's home nation that sent them around the world seeking untapped resouces. The discovery of new land with provided explorers with the power to obtain these resources such as gold or animal hides, and take them back to their home nation, thus making the rich and in turn, powerful.

Colonial nations obtained power through the exploration of land by exploiting the people they colonized and the materials that their land had to offer. This power was given to them through mercantilism. Britain is a great example of that. They facilitated the slave trade, collected the cotton, tobacco, sugar, etc, and distrubted those products worldwide. As no other nation could produce what Britain was providing, the other nations became reliant on Britain for these products, ergo making them very powerful.

Answers

Answer:

The legislative branch makes laws, but the President in the executive branch can veto those laws with a Presidential Veto. The legislative branch makes laws, but the judicial branch can declare those laws unconstitutional.

Explanation:

The legislative branch makes laws, but the President in the executive branch can veto those laws with a Presidential Veto.

The legislative branch makes laws, but the judicial branch can declare those laws unconstitutional.

The executive branch, through the Federal agencies, has responsibility for day-to-day enforcement and administration of Federal laws. These Federal departments and agencies have missions and responsibilities that vary widely, from environmental protection to protecting the Nation’s borders.

The judicial branch interprets laws, but the President nominates Supreme Court justices, court of appeals judges, and district court judges who make the evaluations.

The judicial branch interprets laws, but the Senate in the legislative branch confirms the President’s nominations for judicial positions, and Congress can impeach any of those judges and remove them from office.

Answer:

Explanation;
It is based on the belief that the ability to regulate other federal branches is enabled through a separation of powers. Typically found in governments established under a constitution, institutions are designed with separate functions and roles. In the United States, a three-branch federal government allocates:

⇶ Legislative powers to the U.S. Congress (U.S. House of Representatives and Senate)

⇶ Executive powers to the President (and Cabinet)

⇶ Judicial powers to the Supreme Court (and federal courts)

Early influences on the planning of America's new government included Polybius, Charles Montesquieu, William Blackstone, and John Locke. Montesquieu, the French political philosopher, maintained that in order to prevent the abuse of power, "power checks power.” The concept of defined authority to purposefully maintain liberty and guard against tyranny helped frame the U.S. system.

The founding debate over the size and power of the federal government resulted in a compromise between the Federalists and Anti-Federalists. The Federalists were in favor of a strong central government whereas the Anti-Federalists advocated for a minimal central government with most power concentrated at the state level.

In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty is this: You must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place, oblige it to control itself.”James Madison - Federalist Papers

The result was sharing of powers between the states and national government with a clear division of power between three federal branches. A national executive elected indirectly by the citizens through the Electoral College held military, , and legislative approval (or veto) powers.

A.) carbohydrates: monosaccharidesB.) lipids: fatty acids and glycerolD.) proteins: amino acids

The correct answers are A, B, and D.

Carbohydrates are made up of monosaccharides, such as glucose and fructose.

Lipids are made up of fatty acids and glycerol.

Proteins are made up of amino acids.

Glycosides are not monomers, but rather a type of compound formed when a sugar molecule is bonded to a non-sugar molecule. Peptides, meanwhile, are short chains of amino acids, but they are not the monomers that make up proteins.

Japanese internment camps were established during World War II by President Franklin D. Roosevelt through his Executive Order 9066. From 1942 to 1945, it was the policy of the U.S. government that people of Japanese descent, including U.S. citizens, would be incarcerated in isolated camps. Enacted in reaction to the Pearl Harbor attacks and the ensuing war, the incarceration of Japanese Americans is considered one of the most atrocious violations of American civil rights in the 20th century.

Life in the camps had a military flavor; internees slept in barracks or small compartments with no running water, took their meals in vast mess halls, and went about most of their daily business in public.
