From an empowerment orientation to social work practice, effective objectives _____.

Answers

Answer 1

From an empowerment orientation to social work practice, effective objectives focus on promoting the autonomy and self-determination of individuals and communities. These objectives aim to equip individuals with the necessary skills, resources, and support to overcome challenges, improve their well-being, and advocate for their rights.

1. Enhancing self-awareness and self-efficacy: Effective objectives in an empowerment-oriented approach involve helping individuals recognize their strengths, values, and abilities. By fostering self-awareness, individuals can develop a sense of confidence and belief in their capacity to make positive changes in their lives.
2. Building social support networks: Effective objectives also include facilitating the development of strong social connections and networks. This helps individuals access support, guidance, and resources from their communities. Through these networks, individuals can receive emotional, practical, and informational support, strengthening their overall well-being.
3. Promoting advocacy and social justice: Empowerment-oriented objectives prioritize empowering individuals to become active agents of change within their communities. This involves providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to advocate for their rights and challenge oppressive systems and structures.
4. Enhancing problem-solving and decision-making skills: Effective objectives focus on helping individuals develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. This equips them to identify and analyze challenges, explore various solutions, and make informed decisions that align with their values and goals.
5. Supporting individual and collective goal-setting: Empowerment-oriented objectives involve collaboratively setting goals with individuals and communities. These goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART), and reflect the unique aspirations and needs of the individuals involved.
In conclusion, effective objectives in an empowerment orientation to social work practice prioritize enhancing self-awareness, building social support networks, promoting advocacy and social justice, enhancing problem-solving and decision-making skills, and supporting goal-setting. These objectives empower individuals and communities to overcome challenges, improve well-being, and advocate for their rights.

Choose THREE reasons that EXPLAIN why American colonists were upset with Britain's tax laws?
(MULTI SELECT! SELECT THREE)
A. The colonists were taxed by Parliament who knew nothing of American colonial life.
B. The taxes greatly reduced the colonists' ability to grow agricultural products.
C. The British tax collectors only collected taxes from Patriot colonists.
D. The colonists could not elect representatives to British Parliament.
E. The colonists' rights as British citizens were being ignored.

Answers

By the 1770’s, Great Britain had established a number of

colonies in North America. The American colonists thought of

themselves as citizens of Great Britain and subjects of King

George III. They were tied to Britain through trade and by the

way they were governed. Trade was restricted so the colonies

had to rely on Britain for imported goods and supplies. There

were no banks and very little money, so colonists used barter and

credit to get the things they needed.

Following the French and Indian War, Britain wanted to

control expansion into the western territories. The King issued

the Proclamation of 1763 prohibiting settlements beyond the

Appalachian Mountains. Colonists who had already settled on

these lands were ordered to return east of the mountains.

In 1765 Parliament passed the Quartering Act that said the

colonists needed to find or pay for lodging for British soldiers

stationed in America. With the French and Indian War over,

many colonists saw no need for soldiers to be stationed in the

colonies.

Britain also needed money to pay for its war debts. The

King and Parliament believed they had the right to tax the

colonies. They decided to require several kinds of taxes from the

colonists to help pay for the French and Indian War. These taxes

included the Stamp Act, passed in 1765, which required the use

of special paper bearing an embossed tax stamp for all legal

documents. Other laws, such as the Townsend Acts, passed in

1767, required the colonists to pay taxes on imported goods like

tea.

Many colonists felt that they should not pay these taxes,

because they were passed in England by Parliament, not by their

own colonial governments. They protested, saying that these

taxes violated their rights as British citizens.

The colonists started to resist by boycotting, or not buying,

British goods. In 1773 some colonists in Boston, Massachusetts

demonstrated their frustration by dressing up like Indians,

sneaking onto ships in the harbor, and dumping imported tea into

the water. This was called the Boston Tea Party. The British

took action by closing the Boston port. A similar but smaller tea

party took place in Yorktown, Virginia in 1774.

The First Continental Congress met in 1774 to make a list of

complaints about the way Britain was treating the colonies. Many

people in America felt their concerns were not being heard, and

this caused more unhappiness in the colonies.

In April of 1775, a group of colonists fought against the

British army in the Battles of Lexington and Concord. In 1775,

the Second Continental Congress decided to form a Continental

Army, which consisted of citizens from 13 colonies. George

Washington was selected to be the Commander-in-Chief of the

Army. The colonies were ready to fight for their rights.

Answers

The perspective where to overcome adversity and oppression, individual immigrants must imitate the dominant culture is Assimilation

Assimilation refers to the process through which people or groups with different ethnic ancestries are assimilated into the dominant culture of a society.

Assimilation is the process of imitating characteristics from the dominant culture to the point when the group assimilating becomes socially indistinguishable from other members of the society. Assimilation is therefore the most extreme type of acculturation.

Although assimilation may be forced or undertaken voluntarily, it is uncommon for a minority group to completely imitate and replace its prior cultural practices; among the traits that are frequently the most resistant to change are religion, food preferences, proxemics (i.e., the physical distance between people in a given social situation), and aesthetics. Assimilation does not signify a biological or "racial" merger.

The informal exchange of information among team members is known as a grapevine. It is informal because it doesn't take place through official, predetermined means. It is unplanned and typically occurs horizontally, or amongst members of the same organisational level. But that is not a rule. Grapevine can also occur vertically. However, since this type of communication is more intimate, it occurs far more frequently when there is no hierarchy present.

News spreads quickly through grapevine. When someone learns of a promotion or a significant layoff, they can instantly tell their friends, who will most likely tell other people.
