Read the story Lost in the Woods:

I never thought departing the trail just a little would be a big deal. My parents had cautioned me so many times about wandering off and how easy it is to get disoriented. But, I wasn't planning to go very far. In fact, I kept looking back to make sure I could retrace my steps. Looking back didn't work. All of the trees began to look the same, and nothing looked familiar. It wasn't until I finally decided to make my way back that I realized I was lost! I had gone much farther, and for much longer, than I had planned.

The warmth that the sun had brought to the forest in the daytime was now quickly disappearing. My parents' warnings came racing through my head. What did they tell me to do if ever I got lost? Over and over they drilled into me, "The most important thing to remember is S.T.O.P.!" It's an acronym for sit, think, observe, and plan. I stopped, sat down on the forest floor, and pulled my knees in close. It was cooling off, and a light drizzle was dampening the forest. I was lonely and scared. I knew that to survive, I had to stay warm, and I needed to drink water. Before I got any wetter, I made a very crude lean-to from the nearby branches and foliage. I managed to collect a bunch of dry leaves for a mattress. It was dark now. I took off my T-shirt and wrapped it around my legs, pulled on my hoodie, and curled up on the bed of leaves. I couldn't sleep. It was a cold, dark, and spooky night, and I was hungry.

It felt like forever before the dawn filtered through the trees the next day. I knew I had to remain calm and make my whereabouts known. My family would be searching for me. I pulled out the only tool I had brought with me, my voice! I began to yell as loudly as I could,

"Help! I'm over here!"

Soon, very faintly at first, I could hear voices. I knew it was the search party, so I kept yelling and then listening. They kept calling out my name, and I kept replying until we were together. My dad was holding me close when he reprimanded me,

"Don't you know you were late for supper? I'm disappointed that you wandered off. I'm glad you told us where you were going, and I'm proud of you for remembering the survival techniques. But, I bet you won't do that again, eh?"

"Nah, I think I learned my lesson," I answered sheepishly.

Read the story The Rescue:

Captain Henry was said to be one of the best divers in Bayfield, Wisconsin, and now he is said to be the best ship captain. However, this evening on Lake Superior was different from any other evening that Captain Henry had seen. It was a wavy and stormy night on the lake. Captain Henry was directing all of his strength to hold the steering wheel and control the ship. The waves were the size of mammoths, and the boat continued to fill with angry water. Captain Henry yelled at his fellow sailors to scoop out the water that was weighing down the ship, but the sailors could not work any faster. "We are sinking! We are sinking!" shouted the sailors.

Captain Henry knew that they were in trouble. With little time to spare before the ship began to sink into Lake Superior, Captain Henry made an urgent call to his older brother. His older brother had helped him with everything from cuts to broken bones all of his life. He was a father figure to Captain Henry. Coincidently, his older brother was also the strongest, bravest, and most dedicated coastguard in Bayfield, Wisconsin. Luckily, with Lake Superior just north of Bayfield, Captain Henry's brother would hopefully be able to rescue them soon. Captain Henry began to desperately flash the emergency lights on the boat so that his brother could find him. In the distance, the sailors pointed to a boat coming their way and tooting its horn. As Captain Henry's brother arrived, he threw a rope to the sailors and pulled them to safety. Standing on the boat, wrapped in blankets, the sailors, Captain Henry, and his brother watched the ship sink. "All good things must come to an end," stated Captain Henry, sadly. "But, hey! Now, you can practice your diving again and go see your ship at the bottom of the lake," joked Captain Henry's brother.

which choice explains the connection between martha dilemma and the story's theme that society shapes our interpretation of god

Answers

Answer:

Answer is "As Martha gains confidence in herself and her choices, God begins to resemble her."

Explanation:

: Martha's dilemma in the story serves to demonstrate the theme that society shapes our interpretation of God. Martha's interpretation of God is shaped by the expectations of the society in which she lives.

What is the character of her ?

She is a devout Christian and believes that God is a benevolent being who will reward her for her faithfulness. However, when she is faced with a difficult decision, she cannot reconcile her faith with the reality of her situation.

Her dilemma illustrates how our interpretation of God is often shaped by the expectations of the society in which we live. Martha's dilemma also shows the theme that our interpretation of God is often influenced by our own experiences.

She can't accept the idea that God would let her suffer and she can't reconcile it with her faith. This shows that her interpretation of God is heavily influenced by her own experiences of suffering and her inability to understand why God allowed her to suffer. This serves to demonstrate the theme that our interpretation of God is often shaped by our own experiences.

What is Linking verb?

Verbs that describe the topic rather than demonstrating an action are known as linking verbs. While words like "walk" or "jump" denote an activity, linking words like "be" or "seem" give the topic more context, as in "he seems pleasant" or "she is an architect."

Linking verbs, also referred to as copulas or copulae, are crucial components of any language, but they are particularly crucial in English because the most prevalent verb, be, is a linking verb.

Actions are not expressed by linking verbs. Keep in mind that depending on the context, some verbs may function as linking verbs or not. Tony's odor is always that of the soup.

This assignment will springboard off of the Photo Memoir essay you wrote in Unit 2. Revisit your photo memoir essay and research a historical event that occurred during that time period. In lieu of research, you may use primary sources such as family letters or documents that could be used to provide background for your essay. Rework the photo memoir essay to incorporate the historically significant information into a new essay that argues a point based on the graphic and textual sources you gathered. Cite the sources both implicitly and explicitly within your essay.

Here is the memoir I wrote
“It is what it is”. Though it’s a cliche phrase, this is the photograph that I’ve selected to discuss. It may sound trite, this quote possesses a deeper meaning. When life seems to be out of control, it causes me to feel overwhelmed. It’s an instinct that I immediately want to take matters into my own hands, but in some situations, this is not feasible. This quote represents a deeper meaning that I cannot control things that are beyond me. Furthermore, the topic of discussion will revolve around It Is What It Is.
It’s hard to deny that when situations in our life don't go our way or even how we had planned we don't get upset. In my case, this situation can ruin my day. For example, before a ski race I used to have an expectation for myself, and I would give my best performance on the hill. Sometimes I would come up short, and this is what used to upset me. Although at the time I didn't realize that I did everything in my control to win, so at the end of the day I was racing myself. How does this tie back to It Is What It Is? Well, it seems that increasingly often you hear the phrase, “It is what it is.” I was taking the phrase to mean, “It’s not this and it’s not that; it’s something more subtle that I don’t have a name for, and I’m ok with that.” This actively demonstrates that you're ok with things not going your way, and this can lead to better self-development. By letting things hang in an uncategorized state in their mind they may slowly come to a richer, more nuanced understanding of it, which may lead to a new insight or invention.
Although there are benefits to It Is What It Is, the phrase comes with downfalls. For example, when you do have the power to change something going wrong, and you use the phrase it may come more across as giving up. Another way of saying this would be if somebody needs your help, and you have the power to help them, although you decide not to because you think the outcome is inevitable. Even though there is this downfall it does not ruin the phrase. You just have to use it at the correct time. For instance, the correct time to use this phrase would be when something is out of your control, and you are struggling to cope with it. The phrase wasn't meant to give up, it's less meant to deal with it. This phrase oddly enough has helped me cope with things that are out of my control.
To sum up, everything that has been stated so far It Is What It Is is an expression used to characterize a frustrating or challenging situation that a person believes cannot be changed and must just be accepted. In saying this it demonstrates more regard for I won't let something out of my control affect me.

The play is set only shortly before the Titanic
sank. Why did Priestley choose this moment for
his play to be set?

Answers

Answer:

Brainlest, I spent hours writting this

Explanation:

An Inspector Calls was set in 1912 which was near the end of what the Edwardians called a 'Golden Age', where technological advancements were being made and the middle classes were thriving. It is also set at this time as it is important to the plot in several ways: - Eva Smith was involved in the strikes. These strikes really happened in Britain around 1910 where workers went on strike to protest against the low pay they were receiving in the factories. - The class system was very much still in effect. The Birlings are middle class - not born into money, but rich due to their business ventures. Mrs Birling and the Crofts are upeer class - they were born into rich established families. The lower or working class is represented by Eva Smith. You can see this in the play where Sheila exerts her powers in the shop to have Eva sacked, where Gerald sets Daisy up in a flat as his mistress, where Eric uses Eva for sex, and where Mrs Birling refuses to help the pregnant Eva because she has dared to use the name 'Mrs Birling' herself. - The play is actually set in late March or early April 1912 because it mentions the upcoming maiden voyage of the 'unsinkable' Titanic (in Birlings speech in Act One). As you probably know, the Titanic sank on its first voyage. This undermines this idea of technological advancement that the Edwardians were so proud of. It also brought to the forefront the issue of class division as most of the surviving passengers were first class as they were put on the lifeboats before those travelling in steerage - lower class. - Also in Birling's speech he mentions the threat of war, which he disregards as ridiculous. Of course, not long after, in 1914 WW1 began, followed shortly by WW2. These wars completely changed Britain, and of course, Priestley's audience in 1946 when the play was first performed, would be all too aware of this dramatic irony. (Dramatic Irony = where the audience know something that the characters on stage do not) The setting of the play in 1912 should be contrasted with the plays performance in 1946. Would the fate of Eva Smith have been any different if this had all happened in 1946 instead of 1912?

There are several explanations for J.B. Priestley's decision to have his play, An Inspector Calls, take place just before the Titanic went down.

The Titanic stood for power and luxury: The ship was the biggest and most opulent ocean liner ever built, and it served as a representation of the riches and power of the affluent class.

Priestley was able to emphasize the contrast between the lifestyles of the wealthy and the lives of the poor by putting his play on the eve of the Titanic's sinking.

The tragedy of the Titanic: The sinking was a significant news story that significantly influenced public opinion. Priestley was able to appeal to the public's sense of loss and grief by basing his play on the events following the sinking of the Titanic.

The Titanic's demise served as a stark reminder of how short life is: Although it was believed that the ship couldn't sink, an iceberg struck it, and it sank in less than three hours. The sinking served as a lesson that nothing can be predicted in life. Priestley was able to get his audience to reflect on the value of savoring every day by situating his play in the wake of the Titanic's sinking. sinking was felt by people all across the world. On April 15, 1912, the ship sank, claiming the lives of nearly 1,500 people.

Aside from these factors, Priestley might have also done so because Britain was through a period of significant social and political change at the time his play was set, just before the Titanic fell. The nation was dealing with a lot of difficulties as the First World War drew near. Priestley was able to explore the issues of social injustice, class struggle, and the significance of social responsibility by putting his play in this era.

Strangers that look at the picture as if to ask why does she have the deep, passionate expression on her face. How did such a countenance occur? It was not just her husband that caused the happy blush that came on her face. The artist said that it might have happened because of a cape that covered her wrist. No painter could ever reproduce that flushed look around her neck. She was courteous and that called up the blush. She had too much heart and was too easily impressed. Whatever she looked at she liked. The Duke looking at her breast, the sunset, the cherry limb that some idiot broke in the orchard for her, a white mule that she rode—all were given a positive acknowledgement or her spot of joy.Often, she thanked men but no one knows how. There would be some kneeling down, but the Duke does not stoop for anyone. Every time that the Duke saw her, she smiled at him; however, other men passed her and she smiled at them as well. This smiling at others continued and grew. The Duke gave an ultimatum for her to stop smiling and then everything stopped. In the picture, there she stands as though she were alive. The Count’s generosity is absolute so that the Duke knows that he will get a fair dowry. It is not the dowry in which the Duke is interested, but rather the Count’s beautiful daughter. Now the Duke and the servant will go down together. As they leave, the Duke tells the man to take note of a statue of Neptune, the Roman god of the seas, who is riding and taming a seahorse. Another artist cast the statue in bronze and it is rare.
