Classify the sequence as arithmetic or geometric and find a rule for the n'th term. 9,3,1,1/3

Answers

Answer 1

The given sequence 9, 3, 1, 1/3 can be classified as a geometric sequence.

To find the rule for the n'th term, we need to determine the common ratio (r) between consecutive terms.

To find the common ratio, we divide each term by its previous term:

3/9 = 1/3, 1/3 = 1/3

We can see that the common ratio (r) is 1/3.

The rule for the n'th term of a geometric sequence is given by:

a(n) = a(1) * r^(n-1)

In this case, the first term (a(1)) is 9, and the common ratio (r) is 1/3.

Therefore, the rule for the n'th term is:

a(n) = 9 * (1/3)^(n-1)

=0 How many of these restrictions would need to be violated in order to reject the null hypothesis?

(a) 0
(b) 1
(c) 2
(d) 3
(e) 4

Answers

In an F-test, the null hypothesis typically states that all specified coefficients are equal to zero. In this case, the null hypothesis is:

H0: β1 = 0, β2 = 0, βs = 0, and β4 = 0

To reject the null hypothesis, we need to find evidence that at least one of these restrictions is violated. This means that if we can show that any one of the coefficients (β1, β2, βs, or β4) is significantly different from zero, it would provide sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis.

Therefore, if any one of these restrictions is violated, meaning that its corresponding coefficient is not equal to zero, it would lead to rejecting the null hypothesis. In this case, only one violation among β1, β2, βs, or β4 is needed to reject the null hypothesis. Hence, the correct answer is:

(b) 1

It's important to note that the specific restriction that is violated can be different for each case, but as long as one restriction is violated, we have enough evidence to reject the null hypothesis in an F-test.

If at the beginning of the year, a company estimates total overhead costs of $1,309,620. The amount of overhead should be applied to a job that uses 30 machine hours that year is: 13,140.

What amount of overhead should be applied to a job?

Overhead rate per machine hour = Total estimated overhead costs / Estimated number of machine hour

Overhead rate per machine hour = $1,309,620 / 2,990

Overhead rate per machine hour  = $438 per machine hour

Overhead applied to job = Overhead rate per machine hour x Number of machine hours used

determine whether the series converges or diverges. [infinity] n2 − 6n n3 3n 1 n = 1

Answers

If we determine if the series ∑(n=1 to ∞) n^2 - 6n / (n^3 + 3n + 1) converges or diverges, further analysis or tests, such as the comparison test or the ratio test, may be necessary.

To determine if the series ∑(n=1 to infinity) (n^2 - 6n)/(n^3 + 3n + 1) converges or diverges, we can use the limit comparison test.

First, we choose a series b_n that we know converges and has positive terms. Let's choose the series b_n = 1/n. Since b_n > 0 for all n, we can use it for the limit comparison test.

Next, we need to calculate the limit of the ratio of the two series as n approaches infinity: lim (n → ∞) [(n^2 - 6n)/(n^3 + 3n + 1)] / (1/n)

We can simplify this expression by dividing both the numerator and denominator by n^3: lim (n → ∞) [(1 - 6/n^2)/(1/n^2 + 3/n^3 + 1/n^3)]As n approaches infinity, all the terms with 1/n or higher powers of 1/n approach zero, so we can simplify further:

lim (n → ∞) [1/(1/n^2)]

= lim (n → ∞) n^2

= ∞

Since this limit is finite and positive, the series ∑(n=1 to infinity) (n^2 - 6n)/(n^3 + 3n + 1) and the series ∑(n=1 to infinity) 1/n have the same convergence behavior.

Since the harmonic series ∑(n=1 to infinity) 1/n diverges, we can conclude that the original series ∑(n=1 to infinity) (n^2 - 6n)/(n^3 + 3n + 1) also diverges by the limit comparison test.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The strength of a linear relationship between two variables is typically measured by the correlation coefficient (r) or the coefficient of determination (r^2). A value of r or r^2 closer to 1 indicates a stronger positive linear relationship, whereas a value closer to -1 indicates a stronger negative linear relationship. A value of r or r^2 closer to 0 indicates a weaker or no linear relationship.

Looking at the given regression equations and their correlation coefficients, the regression with the weakest linear relationship between x and y is Regression 3:

Regression 1: y = -5.8x - 6.5, r = -0.7621

Regression 2: y = 2.4x - 14.7, r = 0.809

Regression 3: y = -7.4x - 17.4, r = -0.233

Regression 4: y = -3.4x - 8.5, r = -0.6121

Regression 3 has the lowest absolute value of r (0.233), indicating the weakest or no linear relationship between x and y. Therefore, Regression 3 represents the weakest linear relationship between x and y among the given options.

Among 320 randomly selected airline travelers, the mean number of hours spent travelling per year is 24 hours and the standard deviation is 2. 9. What is the margin of error, assuming a 90% confidence level? Round your answer to the nearest tenth.

Answers

The margin of error of the random selection is 0.29

The given parameters are:

\(n = 320\) --- the sample size

\(\sigma = 2.9\) --- the standard deviation

\(\bar x = 24\) --- the mean

\(\alpha = 90\%\) --- the confidence level.

The margin of error (E) is calculated as follows:

\(E = z \times \sqrt{\frac{\sigma^2}{n}}\)

So, we have:

\(E = z \times \sqrt{\frac{3.2^2}{320}}\)

\(E = z \times \sqrt{\frac{10.24}{320}}\)

The z-value for 90% confidence level is 1.645.

Substitute 1.645 for z

\(E = 1.645 \times \sqrt{\frac{10.24}{320}}\)

\(E = 1.645 \times \sqrt{0.032}\)

Take square roots

\(E = 1.645 \times 0.1789\)

consider the quadratic function y equals short dash x squared plus 6 x minus 5. what do we know about the graph of this quadratic equation, based on its formula?

Answers

Based on the formula of the quadratic function y=-x^2+6x-5, we know that its graph is a downward-facing parabola that opens wide, with a vertex at (3,-14), and an axis of symmetry at x=3.

Based on the formula of the quadratic function y=-x^2+6x-5, we can determine several properties of its graph, including its shape, vertex, and axis of symmetry.

First, the negative coefficient of the x-squared term (-1) tells us that the graph will be a downward-facing parabola. The leading coefficient also tells us whether the parabola is narrow or wide. Since the coefficient is -1, the parabola will be wide.

Next, we can find the vertex using the formula:

Vertex = (-b/2a, f(-b/2a))

where a is the coefficient of the x-squared term, b is the coefficient of the x term, and f(x) is the quadratic function. Plugging in the values for our function, we get:

Vertex = (-b/2a, f(-b/2a))

= (-6/(2*-1), f(6/(2*-1)))

= (3, -14)

So the vertex of the parabola is at the point (3,-14).

Finally, we know that the axis of symmetry is a vertical line passing through the vertex. In this case, it is the line x=3.

A mean of a normal distribution's upper bound of a 95% confidence interval is 58.11.

What does "confidence interval" mean?This confidence interval would just be constructed using the Z or t distribution depending on the confidence level that was selected and the standard error of the point estimate.The standard error of the point estimate will be used to account for the variation in the important finding for every one of the outcome measures.

For the given question,

sample mean μ =  554.4/15 = 36.96standard deviatio σ = 41.8sample size n = 15confidence interval = 95%

The confidence bound's upper limit (UCB) is determined as follows:

UCB =  μ + z(α/2)×σ/√n

Now, α/2 = (1 - 0.95)/2

α/2 = 0.025

z(α/2) = 1.96  (obtain from t-distribution table for degree of freedom)

Put the values in the formula,

UCB =  μ + z(α/2)×σ/√n

UCB = 36.96 + 1.96×41.8/√15

UCB = 58.11

As a result, 58.11 is the upper bound of a 95% confidence interval for the mean of a normal distribution.

(LC)Dogs Make Life GreatLet's face it, they don't call dogs "man's best friend" for nothing. They are sweet, they love us, and they do work for us. There is simply nothingbetter than a dog. If humans have learned to survive against saber-toothed predators, stampeding herds, and enduring famine, dogs havebeen right there. As Robin to our Batman, as Scooby Doo to our Shaggy, dogs have been there through thick and thin in our darkest hours.After all we've been through together, how could anyone disagree that dogs are the best pet any human could have?First, we get massive health benefits from dogs. They calm us down when we are stressed. Countless service dogs are trained every yearto go into nursing homes and other facilities to provide comfort to patients. These therapy dogs have been shown to lower blood pressureand calm distressed patients. Dogs also bring sweet, sweet bacteria into our homes. These bacteria help build our immune systems andmake us healthier. Studies have shown that people with dogs get sick less often. In addition, growing up with a dog in your home maymake you less prone to dog-related allergies as you grow up. Finally, because dogs need regular exercise, dog owners tend to be more fitthan those who do not own dogs or own only cats.Second, dogs just make us happier. New studies have found a lower rate of depression in dog owners. In part because dogs force their ownersto be more active, it is likely that dog-owners just cannot stay cooped up at home all the time. This activity level also makes it easier to meetpeople, stay socially engaged, and feel a sense of belonging. They are dependable friends as well, always ready with a sympathetic ear, a softbelly to rub, and a willing smile. If your day seems like a version of the zombie apocalypse, ten minutes of playing fetch will certainly keep thosezombies at bay until you can get back in the game.Finally, it's all about cute. Sure other pets can be cute, but consider tail wagging. What other animal has such a universally understoodexpression of joy? How can you not give into that sweet face, holding a stick, waiting patiently to be taken out to play? And if you have anydoubts, you must not have seen a dog rolling on its back, tongue lolling about, head swishing back and forth, scooting first one way and thenthe next as if competing in a silly worm dance.Many cat owners may argue with this position, but dogs really are the best companions. They bring joy, like a bluebird brings spring, or arainbow brings a promise. They teach us about patience. They teach us about faith, waiting patiently-no matter how many times we leavewithout them-for that one time they get to load into the car and go with us. Always ready to go, always ready to wait longer, they make ushurry home at the end of the day for just a little unconditional love.What is the main idea of the paragraph in bold? (1 point)a: Dogs improve human health.b: Dogs reduce stress in humans.C: Dogs are used in service at nursing homes.d: Bacteria from dogs help us become stronger.
