The table below shows two conclusions about atoms based on experiments by Rutherford and Thompson. Which of these statements best explains why Rutherford and Thompson visualized the atom differently? Atoms of different elements contain different particles. New experimental processes provide new scientific evidence. A single model of an atom cannot be agreed upon by all scientists. Scientists believe in proposing theories which contradict current theories.

Answers

Answer:

Scientists with varied experimental processes and interests perceive things differently.

Explanation:

Scientists believe in proposing theories which contradict current theories. So the correct option is D.

What are the atomic models?

Recently, the structure of atoms has been discovered. Before the ideal model of an atom was found, several others were proposed and abandoned.

Atomic Model of J.J. Thomson

In his hypothesis, Thomson compared the definition of an atom to that of a Christmas pudding.He claimed that atoms are made up of a positively charged sphere with embedded electrons.Additionally, he claimed that because the magnitudes of positive and negative charges are equal, an atom as a whole is electrically neutral.

Atomic Model of Rutherford

Rutherford experimented with α-particle scattering on a gold sheet.He noticed that the majority of the negative ions did not deflect when they travelled through the gold foil.Small angles were experienced by certain α-particles, whereas almost 180° was experienced by others.This experiment led Rutherford to the conclusion that an atom's nucleus, a positively charged spherical centre with a radius of 10-10 metres, contains almost all of the atom's mass (having a radius of 10–15 m).

Therefore the correct option is D.

The magnification of a light microscope can be found by multiplying the power of the eyepiece by the power of the objective lens. Calculate the magnifications of a microscope that has an 8X eyepiece, and 1OX and 40X objectives.

Answers

To calculate the total magnification of a microscope, we multiply the magnification of the eyepiece by the magnification of the objective.

For the 10X objective:

Total magnification = Eyepiece magnification x Objective magnification
Total magnification = 8X x 10X
Total magnification = 80X

So the total magnification for the combination of the 8X eyepiece and the 10X objective is 80X.

For the 40X objective:

Total magnification = Eyepiece magnification x Objective magnification
Total magnification = 8X x 40X
Total magnification = 320X

So the total magnification for the combination of the 8X eyepiece and the 40X objective is 320X.

Answer: For 10X objective =80X

For 40X objectives =320 X

Explanation: The magnification of a light microscope can be computed by multiplying the power of the eyepiece by the power of the objective lens.

For the 10X objective = power of eyepiece × power of objective lens

                                              = 8X × 10X

                                              =  80X

For the 40X objective = power of eyepiece × power of objective lens

                                               = 8X × 40X

                                               = 320X

Can NiF2 react with K to produce KF and Ni? Why or why not? Question 3 options: A) No, because Ni and K have lower activity than F B) Yes, because K has higher activity than Ni C) Yes, because K has lower activity than Ni D) No, because F and Ni have the same activity

Answers

Answer:

The correct option is;

B) Yes, because K has higher activity than Ni

Explanation:

The chemical equation for the reaction is as follows;

NiF₂ + K → 2KF + Ni

Based on chemical reactivity of the metals nickel and potassium involved in the reaction, we have;

On the activity series, potassium is higher up and therefore more reactive than nickel such that it can displace hydrogen from cold water while hydrogen will be evolved from only an acid in the case of nickel

Hence, the potassium will be able to replace Ni in the NiF₂ compound due to its higher reactivity such that we have;

2k (s) + Ni⁺² (aq) → 2k⁺ + Ni (s)

Answer:

Yes, because K has higher activity than Ni

Q10. Calcium fluoride can be made from the reaction of calcium metal with fluorine gas. The image shows

Answers

Answer:

The answer to your question is given below

Explanation:

In this reaction, the calcium metal, Ca loses two electrons to form calcium ion, Ca^2+ and two fluorine atoms, F receives the two electrons to form two fluoride ion, F^-.

This is illustrated by the following equation:

Ca —> Ca^2+ + 2e

2F + 2e –> 2F^-

Ca + 2F + 2e —> Ca^2+ + 2F^- + 2e

Cancel out 2e

Ca + 2F —> Ca^2+ 2F^-

Thus, the electronic configuration can be written as follow:

Before combination:

Calcium, Ca (20) => 2, 8, 8, 2

Two fluorine atom, F (9) => 2, 7 and 2, 7

After combination:

Calcium ion, Ca^2+ => 2, 8, 8

Two fluoride ion, F^- => 2,8 and 2,8

Hey Lenny lately I’ve been having a rough time in the water cycle. It all started when I was chilling in my favorite location the “glaciars” and suddenly the sun turned me into liquid form. Next thing I know I am hurdling down a river straight into a massive lake. Personally this is my least favorite stage of the water cycle because of kids and bacteria that lurk in the water, very scary things. I didn’t stop at the lake very long, and instead sunk into the soil in a process called collection so I could become ground water. Underground reservoir’s are much more peaceful then lakes and I wanted to stay there. However I was forced up a water well pump shortly after and sent through a long tube. Me and couple of the friends I met on the way were all dispersed over a giant grass feild. Many molecules in the group were captured by the hostile plants but I escaped through the means of evaporation. Currently I have condensed into cloud form and I am roaming the skies looking for you, when you get this let me know and I’ll percipitate in your area! P.s I found this photo of us freezing over in the ice age lollll.

A.) 45 min

B.) 2 Hours

C.) 4 Hours

D.) 30 min

B). 2 Hours
Explanation if the older brother can run 6 MPH and it’s takes him a hour and twenty minutes you automatically can say it’s at least 6 miles then you have to see how many he can run in 20 minutes which is roughly 2 miles so that would mean he run for 8 miles if the younger brother can run 4 MPH then you just have to add that by 2 too see how long it will take to run 8
The answer is 45 for this just plug in your variables to the equation

The concept Le Chatelier's principle is used here to determine the effect of change of concentration, pressure and temperature on the state of equilibrium.

What is Le Chatelier's principle?

According to Le Chatelier's principle, If a system in equilibrium is subjected to a change in concentration, pressure or temperature the equilibrium shifts in the direction that tends to reduce the effect of the change.

Here adding CaO increases the rate of forward reaction. If the concentration of any reacting species is increased, the equilibrium will shift in the forward direction.

The given reaction is exothermic in forward direction. So the increase of temperature shift the equilibrium to the backward direction and the decrease in temperature shift the equilibrium to the forward direction.

Here increasing pressure will shift the equilibrium to the forward direction accompanied by a decrease in the number of moles.
