Wes leaned back in his seat and threw an even stare at me.
"Come on, man," I pressed on. "You don't think about how things would have been different if he'd been
there? If he cared enough to be there?"
"No, I don't. The lower half of his face was shrouded by the long beard that he'd grown, an outward sign
of the Islamic faith he'd adopted in prison. His eyes danced with bemusement. He was not moved by my
emotional questioning. "Listen," he went on. "Your father wasn't there because he couldn't be, my father

This was one of our first visits. I had driven a half hour from my Baltimore home into the woody hills of
central Maryland to Jessup Correctional Institution to see Wes. Immediately upon entering the building,
was sternly questioned by an armed guard and searched to ensure I wasn't bringing in anything that
could be passed on to Wes. Once I was cleared, another guard escorted me to a large room that
reminded me of a public school cafeteria. This was the secured area where prisoners and their visitors
came together. Armed guards systematically paced around the room. Long tables with low metal dividers
separating the visitors from the visited were the only furnishings. The prisoners were marched in dressed
in orange or blue jumpsuits, or gray sweat suits with "DOC" emblazoned across the chests. The uniforms
reinforced the myriad other signals around us: the prisoners were owned by the state. Lucky inmates
were allowed to sit across regular tables from loved ones. They could exchange an initial hug and then
talk face-to-face. The rest had to talk to their families and friends through bulletproof glass using a
telephone, visitor and prisoner connected by receivers they held tight to their ears
Just as I was about to ask another question, Wes interrupted me.
"Let me ask you a question. You come here and ask me all these questions, but you haven't shared any of

"I don't know-"I was about to say more when I realized that I didn't really have more to say
"Do you miss him?" he asked me.
"Every day. All the time." I replied softly, I was having trouble finding my voice. It always amazed me how
could love so deeply, so intensely, someone I barely knew. I was taught to remember, but never question.
Wes was taught to forget, and never ask why. We learned our lessons well and were showing them of to a

0 3 1 2 Architecture Over the past several years, it has become increasingly common for big-name developers to tear down Victorian, Craftsman, and Colonial buildings. This destruction is often performed with the thought that it is the property that holds the true value, not the structure that sits on it. Likewise, homeowners have begun to value their property's location over the house they have spent many years living in. Little regard is given to the painstaking details and craftsmanship that went into these buildings, nor the innate beauty of hand-carved woodwork and ornamentation. "Out with the old, in with the new" has resulted in people no longer appreciating the history and artistic integrity of our country's oldest buildings and failing to realize that once "the new" is brought in, "the old" is lost to us forever. It is bad enough that developers and private citizens are blind to the beauty around them, what is worse is that local governments refuse to step in and prevent this destruction. Cities and towns need to stand up to large developers that flash money around in the name of progress. Rather than allowing developers to tear down old buildings simply to put up new ones, local governments could enact ordinances to preserve their area's architecture. As they battled to survive in hostile and harsh environments, Callahan and Simpson were both forced to face physical, mental, and emotional difficulties. However, despite some key similarities in their outlooks and attitudes, there are a number of significant differences between their experiences.
What was the similarities and difference? The nature of the difficulties Callahan and Simpson encountered is a key distinction between their experiences. After his sailboat capsized, Callahan was left stranded at sea in a small life raft and had to navigate through many difficult physical and logistical situations in order to reach safety. Simpson, on the other hand, was stranded on a mountain following a climbing accident, and he had to overcome both the psychological hardships of being by himself and in excruciating pain, as well as his severe physical injuries. Answer:
hjjxjkzkzjzj
zmzmzmzmsmzmznznnznzhihihikzkzjznz
23)
I think "we must show him he is wrong" would be better if you mean "he says or does something we think it's wrong, so we must prove that and make him realize".
24)
"We should ask him what he thinks" would sound better.
In fact "ought to" and "should" have the exact same meaning, which is to give advice. But "ought to" is a lot more formal and less used in modern English (which means it is quite old fashioned). So don't use it unless you're doing formal writings.
25)
The sentence is correct if you mean you are studying another subjects in college now (a fact) and you are regretting it, which means studying architecture is just your imagination. It has zero possibility, so using past perfect tense is correct.
There is an alternative: if you want to use a Type 3 conditional sentence, it might be "If I had made a choice, I would have studied architecture in college" if you mean you didn't have a chance to choose back then.
26)
It's correct if you want to tell someone you don't know how to play an instrument when they ask you to do so.
27)
It's correct. "Have to" means need to or is forced to do something, and it's in past tense because the incident happened last week.

This unit focuses on those who feel they are on the outside looking in. Compare and contrast how this idea is developed in Mowgli's Brothers from The Jungle Book and All Summer in a Day. Use textual evidence to support your response.
Question 1 options:
Answer and Explanation:
Being outside can have two different meanings. Both fit the two stories shown in the question above. One of these meanings is that a person who is outside a system, looking from the inside, has a panoramic view of the entire system and can gain advantages in trying to operate it because of his superior knowledge. This meaning can be compared with the story presented in "Mowgli's Brothers" where Mowgli through the cognitive capacity that humans have is able to understand the behavior of wolves and reproduce them, being considered a worthy member of the pack.
Another meaning is that which says that a person who is outside observing the internal part of a system, may be experiencing social exclusion, where it is not accepted and undergoes hostility by a marjoritary group. This meaning can be applied in "All Summer in a Day" where a girl is excluded, harassed and rejected by other children, because she is the only one who really knows the sun.
The comparison and contrast about how this idea is developed in Mowgli's Brothers from The Jungle Book and All Summer in a Day is:
The person who is outside has a clearer view, just like Mowgli who has a panoramic view and can make better decisions. It also shows that an outsider is excluded from a group.Based on the complete text, we can see that there is the narration about Mowgli where he is excluded from the pack and this outside view gives him the needed angle to see the behavior of the pack.
However, this also shows that he was excluded and this shows that the pack does not trust him which makes him to do certain things to win their trust.
